Exactly.
But as I said lighter with better aero makes no difference at low speed as the OP was talking about.
True but then what is your explanation for why some of those cars have better acceleration without having more power? Engine in the back maybe?

It amazes me that almost every post that almost every person has made in response to me either defends, downplays, justifies, or praises the M5's lack of traction.

So, it seems to me everyone agrees the M5 has a traction issue (like it or not), and that's all I said from the beginning.

Seems like we all agree, like it or not!

We can all get along after all.

I agree there are traction issues but do not agree the fix is AWD. All hi hp RWD cars have traction issues and some of them as I mentioned previously are the best in the business . Long story short if you wanted something you could simply mash the throttle and not worry about there are other choices out there to choose from

You will be spinning your wheels (pun intended). As a former language teacher (French and English) and linguist I can tell you that you are fighting a losing battle. Language has a mind of its own and will not be directed. The French have even created a whole institution to keep their language pure (L'Académie Française) - they have been fighting Anglicisms for years with zero success. I'm afraid that you're stuck with "meh" until it decides to leave on its own.

So I was enjoying my car today, freshly washed and cared for, and found another "thing" that might not be perfect!

Uh oh! 98 out of 100 things are perfect so far, but that leaves 2 that are not!

I already have the topic for my next major thread (to be launched next weekend once perfected). First there was traction, then there is -BLANK-

They might show up at my house with torches after this! HAHAHAHA

Getting my Singapore Grey M5 later this week and I can't wait to have rear traction issues. What a fantastic problem to have.

I feel that OP is probably not to be blamed for complaining abt lack of traction. I felt the same way abt the M5 initially and I come from a back ground of primarily RWD cars. It has to do with that 560 bhp spec. People wanna get excited by that new found power and hit the throttle hard, but only to find the DSC blinking away. I got used to it and drove it the way I used to drive most of my other RWD cars and I am having loads of fun. Let's not forget that when BMW does indeed go AWD, we'll be complaining abt steering feel then. Just ask someone who has seat time in AWD vs RWD Gallardos. Which has the sweeter steering? Give M sometime to sort out the electric steering first so it won't be that bad when they eventually go AWD.

No I don't agree with that at all. I have loads more fun in my AWD TTS than in my M6. Frankly, if the wife didn't love it so much it would be gone tomorrow. Secondly, you made one very blunt statement that AWD is only good for drag racing. That is not taken out of context in any way.

Ok for any future M5 buyers - traction issues so if you don't want that don't buy one and don't complain case closed

I personally don't like awd cars. If all cars become awd then everyone will still be complaining.

You can't make everyone happy, I am just glad that there are choices.

And to answer op question, yes the M5 has traction issues if you just nail the throttle. MDM mode and throttle modulation =

#4. Exhaust note. Hahahahahahahaha! Yeah, same issue with many AWD. We need to all switch to NA motors.
