Thats not going to affect the value of your car. The bumper is a non VIN body panel. People replace them all the time when they get aero kits.

All you need to do is keep it off the carfax. For a small claim like this I doubt it will be reported. Just tell insurance co that if it goes on carfax, you claim diminished value. If not then, it's fine to just cover the repair.

yep. I learned the hard way with my E60 M5. Momentum Paint and Body did the work. Would have been a 2-3 week job in California. took 3 months. they didnt have an effing clue. then, to top things off, they bought my replacement HRE's at FULL RETAIL. so, they're either scamming or they are morons... or both.

I had Dinan exhaust that had to be replaced.... they couldnt figure out where to get a replacement. I had to actually give them the friggin phone number to Dinan to get parts. THEN... right rear spring had to be replaced as well (Dinan). They are sold in sets of two for a reason, but apparently they couldnt figure it out. so I got my car back and the right rear was about an inch higher than the left rear because the left rear had a spring in it that 30k miles on it vs. the new spring on the right rear.

then, they gave me the wrong kind of tires. I had PS2's on the car. The one tire that had to be replaced came with a pilot super sport. I had to tell them that there was a difference. they then proceeded to tell me that the PS2's were discontinued. I had to inform them they were morons and to get me the correct tire to match my other 3.

ok... done ranting. I <3 Houston!

Thanks for the feedback folks. Think I'm going with Metropolitan which seems to be decent on high end vehicles.

Only snag at this point is getting the part/order info in their system.

As for diminished value, I'm calling some consultants today to get an idea of scope.

To be continued...

ps - only saving grace is car is drivable and we're now past the 1,200 break-in!

you're not going to get diminished value because the bumper cover has to be replaced. The fender should be easily fixed as well.... I doubt it needs to be replaced. My X5 M is currently at Metropolitan having its bumper cover replaced because the dealer drilled it for the front license plate!

Whoa, after just 30K miles the wear on your left rear spring resulted in a 1" drop in ride height? That seems WAY excessive.

perhaps I exaggerated... but it was 100% obvious just by looking at the car

Update:
After 3 weeks on order, parts finally arrive!!!
Car is disassembled and body shop finds 4 more parts to order, should be ready in 5 days. BUT now just got update those are on back order too!!!

Don't know how long I can wait!

In mean time, what tint grade should I put on it? It's Singapore grey with silverstone. I was thinking 35%. Don't want to be too dark but also not too light. Thoughts?

Put 70% if you want your seats to look whitish. Otherwise they will look like standard gray seats.

They have the custody of the car. They are resposible for everything. You should not even get involved and request that they fix it accordingly. You may also ask for compensation. A car fixed as a result of an accident looses a lot of its value even if it is fixed propertly. I am sure you heard about carfax. If it is leased then you do not worry.

I have used Metroplitan Collision a few times over the last 10 years on a previous BMW and an Land Rover. I have to say they have done a fantastic job every time. If the unfortunate thing happened again that is where I would take the M.

Regarding the tint

I used EVS in west Houston and applied the SAT adaptive tint to my sing grey car. I think it was either 35 or 40 but obv gets darker in sunny situations. I love the tint. On previous M car had used Huper Optik but feel the SAT has a less "metallicy" finish and us prefer it.
