I got the cable and got it all sorted out. I've got about two days of run time but no major flogging…weather has been crap here as well. No codes so far…
What do you mean by resetting the car? just curious if you did a fault code reset. Tom |

Its crude tuning for the moment. You are simply tricking the ECU to under boost and request an extra 2.2 [stock map], 3[custom] or 4[if you wanna risk it] PSI over stock configuration.
There is no monitoring, adjusting A/F ratios, anything its simply telling the ECU under boost requests more load. |

Is there anywhere that BMW can read the actual psi reading with the added 2.2 psi? If I go in for a warranty issue?

And actually those ratios/values would be fall back into place upon re adaptation to the removal of the device/ clearing of codes. |

Stage1 is limited to 2-3psi with the s63 (depending on octane) as this is the reasonable range of the DME to compensate for fuel trims and long term timing trims. The DME will see wider boost variances on its own running on a 40 degree day vs. a 100 degree day, 91 octane vs 94 octane, etc. Beyond the Stage1 levels more precise fuel and timing control is required as they have recently developed for their n63 Stage2 tune. No word on when there will be an s63 Stage2 upgrade kit released. If one is released it will connect to the Stage1 system with extra sensors, a new board, etc. Since Stage1 does not have CANbus access BMS also suggests purchasing a Bavarian Technic cable ($179) which lets you read/delete potential hidden BMW codes, do more extensive logging of knock and AFR if you're worried there might be issues there and want to put your mind at ease, etc. I've been shocked to learn other tuners are selling the same basic TMAP based tune for $2500-$3000. Hopefully more people realize this BMS Stage1 is doing the exact same thing, more with the simple user adjustment and logging offered, for a fraction of the price. OP on the dyno email BMS the DRF dynojet files, I'm sure they would love to include them on their site. Mike |
