I normally remove the black panel completely, clean off any excess gunk then re-seal with tiger seal or something similar. If theres any gaps in the seal the water will find them.

We had the exact same issue with our car, a 2015 comp pkg built in Sept '14. I bought it in November when we were having some rainstorms and I noticed that the rear carpets were soaked. I asked the dealer to look into it and they resealed the plastic moisture barrier. Not sure what they used, but it's been dry as a bone after a number of washes. I wonder if there was an issue with 2015's built in a certain time frame because I couldn't find a lot of similar instances online. There were issues with some of the right hand drive cars leaking due to a plug in the firewall.

if you don't mind me asking, what did the dealer charge you to re seal it? i did not remove the entire panel completely, that is prob where i messed up. i will stop and buy a tube of silicone after work and try it again.

Same happened to me, passenger rear door, 2014 CP. I removed the door panel, took off the inner liner completely, cleaned the whole tape area thoroughly with alcohol to remove all the residue and used original BMW seal tape, then re-applied the liner. Also used a heat gun to malre sure the tape is bonding properly. Just applying silicone won't fix the issue, it's a known problem on the F10 platform. After the whole ordeal, I never had any issues. But it is some work and requires patience

The dealer performed the work a few days after I bought the car and noticed the damp carpets-no charge to me thankfully. The process involved removing the door panels and resealing the plastic-not a super difficult job with the proper tools, but not something I wanted to DIY right off the bat.

It was done along with of a couple of other items I negotiated when I bought it-cracked parking brake switch and some light curb rash on one wheel.
