I added 2 gallons of E85 to a tank of 93 and my car seems to be very happy in this hot and humid Texas weather this week. I will likely continue to run this mix in my DD. Thanks again George!
For those near DFW airport in TX, Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine opened a station that sells E85. It is not listed as top tier, but I heard from some of the GTR guys that the quality is pretty good.

I recently filled up with 94 octane and honestly I feel like I'm driving a different car than with 91. Unfortunately I don't have access to anything but 91 where I live.
Anyone use VP Racing Fuel (Motorsport 109)? It's unleaded and comes in 5, 30 and 55 gallons. I'm thinking of picking up 30 gallons and mixing it with every tank. Seems like I would get about 10 tanks worth if aiming for 93 octane.

I found a semi-local dealer for $694 (CDN) / 30 gallons. Comes out to $23 a gallon
I guess I could buy 94 octane in 55 gallon barrels and have it shipped. Only concern is storage / hassle.

to me octane booster is better than e85. Yes the e85 is more octane than pump 93 but its also 30% less powerful. Normally on a tuned car you pump more volume of fuel when you use e85 to make up for the fact that its less powerful. Thats why these e85 gtr's get such horrible gas mileage. So yes the ecu will run more aggressive timing as a result of the higher octane, but you are also burning a less powerful blend of fuel.

E85 > octane booster
E85 burns cleaner than gasoline (it's 85% alcohol) let alone octane booster which, as mentioned, leaves a residue. With that said terry from bms, for years, would use nos octane booster race formula with mmt in his cars to bump them up from crap 91 to 93. No issues reported. Terry also runs e85 on top of the octane booster sometimes when he's testing race map 7 or custom maps. In those cases I'm wondering if maybe the e85 helps to clean the residue somewhat? |

Car is running okay (have driven about 30 miles) and I'll just keep topping off with 93 until I get a full tank of non-mix in. Then I'll start over again - and pay closer attention.

Made it home from work (25 miles) without issue today. Car feels great even though I didn't get too far into the upper RPM range more than once or twice. Added another 3 gallons of 93 to top it off when I got close to home.
So far 10 gallons of 'accidental E85' hasn't been an issue. I'll add another 3 gallons of 93 tomorrow after my commute and I should be in the clear.

i did logs with 4 gallons of e85 and imo octane booster is way better, the car on a stock tune needs a larger volume of fuel with e85 in there and i was maxing my fuel trims at 19psi
