Squeaky brakes in cold weather...

I know there must be other similar thread out there but I wanted to start a different one, apologies in advance for those who have a problem with it. We've had some pretty cold temperatures in Chicago lately and every time I got in my car after about a half mile of driving the car would make very loud brake noises from about 30mph until I stop. The noise would usually come when applying the brake gradually. Well today we have a heat wave and its about 55 degrees, I didn't have any brake squeaking this morning. Is this normal and I shouldn't worry about it? Thank you in advance for any suggestions, and insight.

I've driven in very cold, 10 to 20F, temps as well as somewhat warm in the 50s and had no squeaking at either temp. I doubt the air temp would cause, or even exacerbate any brake noise. That's my only insight, no idea why you're getting the noise in the first place.

It is due to the weather for sure. In Chicago as well, and my X5M brakes are screaming in the recent cold days we have had. BMW uses a higher temp pad on their cars so they make some noise until up to an optimal temp.

I have the same thing happening to me but did notice it when braking gradually from 20mph to 0mph. Also I did notice it as well on cold temperatures especially and it went away when it got warmer and came back again on a colder day. I've took in in to the dealer for service and complained about the braking noise and that this would happen on a new model. The dealer blamed it on the brake dust but I dont think he knew what he was talking about, but seeing your post now it makes sense.

My m5 does squeak when the brakes aren't warmed up, usually below 35 degrees but not as bad as my X5m. The x5m brakes wake up my neighbors when I back it up the garage.
