New to this forum but hoping to get some advice.

I found a 2014 BMW M5 with 30k miles for ~$60k Black Sapphire/Sakhir Orange. Warranty expires in December so I'll need to find an extended warranty later this year if I pull the trigger on this. Would you only trust BMW extended warranty or 3rd party like Carchex an option?

I've never owned a M car before so anything I should absolutely be aware of before pulling the trigger on a car like this? Only other car I'm thinking of getting besides this is an X5 xDrive50i M Sport as I have a child on the way and one way or another need a larger vehicle for growing family.

Also, anyone from Atlanta on this forum that has a trusted independent mechanic? Mine recently moved to the West Coast.

Thanks in advance!

What kind of price should I be looking at for a similar equipped vehicle?

I agree. I would pay $56-$57k. There is a fully loaded 2014 with everything other than CCB with similar mileage going for $57k. The dealer paid $54k at auction.

Can you possibly PM me the one you're talking about? Or perhaps just point me in the right direction? Much appreciated!

I just paid 59k for a 2014 MCB/silverstone. It was a cpo. You must try to get in a cpo vehicle. It didn't have comp or bang & olufusen.

I bookmarked the car when I saw it yesterday, but it's already sold. That didn't last long. It was a great deal. The auctions are receiving more lease returns every month, so I imagine prices will continue to drop at a steady decline. There were several M5's at auction this week throughout the US.

It may be a little difficult to fit a rear facing car seat in an m5; there's not a lot of room in the backseats area.

Should be better than my 335i Sedan, right? Plus wife has an MDX that should be the daily ride for the baby but I want to be able to comfortably take her to when needed.

Fits just fine. Had one in for a few months before switching over to front facing. Caveat is - the front seat occupant can't sit like he/she is in a movie hall (super reclined back) or seat all the way back in its tracts.

That's what I meant. A person of average height may not be comfortable in the front seats if you move it forward enough to fit the rear facing baby seat. And I'm not talking about super reclined here, even in normal middle position seems difficult to fit. But hey, there are countless baby seat brands/designs out there....

One thing I noted after picking up the m5 was a lack of interior space, yet trunk was quite spacious. Parents of small kids instinctively know spacing, from interior to trunk and what can fit, how many strollers you can bring etc. My kids are in boosters now, so interior lack of space was not a deal breaker, but the spacious trunk was a plus.

Anyways OP, I'm sure you can make an m5 work for your budding family, and I wouldn't pay more than high 50s for 2014 with less than 30k miles, with CPO.

I found a 2014 M5, 30k miles, non-competition package, non-cpo vehicle for $52k. Has executive package, driver assistance plus, bang and olufsen, silverstone exterior with black interior. Is that a good price? Under warranty till February next year and I would have to negotiate/purchase an extended warranty/service before that date.

Thoughts on whether this is a good deal?

That seems like a fair price, given you'll have to spend a few for a warranty.

Also recently purchased an AW/Black '14 with Comp, B&O, 32k miles, CPO, Exec & lighting. I may have paid a few thousand more than market but it had exactly what I wanted with CPO and solid history so I didn't pass it up. That's just me. If you find exactly what you want with colors, options, etc, I wouldn't get too caught up in getting the perfect deal.

Oddly enough, my wife has an MDX and even though we both have car seats, her car is primarily used when traveling with the little guy.

Thanks and I agree. In the end it boils down if it's the car I want in the color/options combo that I want at a fair price. With that said, I've gone and put a deposit on this car so if all works out I should be driving this beast in the next week or so.

You can low-ball them because there are loads of M5's for sale. Leases are up, and the F90 is around the corner
