Does anyone have a strange feeling that the turbos themselves are already close to being maxed out as far as pressure goes? I think people are expecting them to crank an extra 300HP out of the car. If the turbos are at capacity then that might not be possible. Theres cooling and better plumbing but still I'm not sure if they will be able to see huge gains.

There is no way they would allow a stock tuned m5's turbos run at it's Mac capacity. I say this because than they would be warrantying blow turbos and that's just not cost efficient. They probably figured out a way to get turbos which are a little bigger than the stock ones in there. The m3 motor was rated at 414hp so it can definitely be achieved easily while keeping the turbos very efficient.

The M3 will be faster then the current M3. But they will not make it faster then M5 or M6.

But then again M3 is more about light weight, agility and handling then outright speed. As was the case with E90 M vs E60 M5.

Well, everyone but FFPM, who apparently checked into the wrong forum since he wants to talk M3. Lol.

What really disappoints me is how many people see 0-60 times and HP/TQ numbers and drool, regardless of how it handles or feels. Regardless of whether the thing that has made so special for so many year still exists.

If 0-60, 1/4 mile and HP numbers are all that matters than, why would you ever have looked at anything but a cadillac or merc?

But now I realize why they have done this, because this what the majority wanted, as told by the response to this car. ///M got it right for the majority of you, but that doesn't mean they got it right.

Cheers,
e46e92

You are probably right... there will definitely be gains from tuning but I doubt they'll be massive, this car is already making 550 horsepower from the factory.

Whoever isn't impressed is
Def full of sh*t. The car is still a heavy 5 series... 3.7 for a stock is just insane for that car, let alone matching Ferrari F-430s time around the ring. Even makes it better.. Wow

Far from max...
X6M has decent gains with just tune, something like 620HP
Good intake, exhaust and tune should bring this M5 to some crazy HP numbers

However, this thing is insane as is

Whether or not they got it right is entirely subjective. At the end of the day, it's the people buying it that matters, whether they are repeat buyers or new ones. No one person's opinion is more definitive than the other when it comes to "getting it right." It's just a car. No need to get all religious about it...

Sick numbers. I called them pretty precisely with my favorite physics based software prediction tool CarTest way back in April before we even had exact power or weight numbers.

The next M3 should match or exceed if history repeats (at "lower" speeds). Of course at high speeds the M5 will dominate based on much more hp.

With a proper tune, and a few simple tweaks, this motor will make 650hp+ with ease.
