F10 M5 VS Concrete Divider

Well... It happened, was driving home from work last night and slammed into the concrete divider on the Verrazano bridge. Was switching into the left lane from the middle when a nice gust of wind pushed me a bit harder than I was prepared for. Lost control and hit the wall!

Thankfully, I'm fine and no other cars were involved in the accident. No Airbag deployment either. Hopefully the car will be ok.

Looks like I'll be needing a new headlight, Rim, Tire, Bumper cover, Control arm is shot, tie rod, possibly steering rack and strut.

She's at the shop now just waiting on the adjuster!

Be Safe out there guys!!

On the headlight note, Im thinking about having the shop swap them out to the LCI Umnitza lights instead of replacing with the Pre-LCI lights. Been reading all over the forums about them, hoping somebody who's had them for a while could chime in on how they are performing for them.

Damn that sucks. The most important part is that you are OK and, while frustrating, the damage is fixable. Like you're thinking maybe you can work in some upgrades/mods as part of this. Were you in either MDM or DTC full off when this happened?

I've been there, not with the M5, but I know the feeling. You should save that wheel for wall art!

Nope, Sport plus Throttle, Comfort Suspension, Comfort Steering, Traction fully on. Was around 50 degrees though and have Summer tires on i think that may have had a play in this. The steering wheel just got away from me when the wind blew.

Love that idea, one day my kids will ask what is from, I'll make up some fun story though so they don’t think I'm the shmuck who slammed his M5 into a wall.

Haha yea...though I bet that wheel would clean up pretty easy with a file, some filler and a respray! I have all kinds of car parts as art here, beauty of engineering! My brake rotors are going to have a new life when they're spent too. Best of luck with your repair, it'll get fixed

Wow. Glad you only ended up a busted fender and wheel. Certainly could have been worse.

On another note, how do you keep the alignment good and the suspension from falling off the chassis with the roads in NY? Not to mention the Verrazzano is a complete rip off at something like $13-15 each way. I left the city during that whole political debacle about the closure and repairs of the bridge. Be safe out there when you get her back.

LOL, Back when i had my E46 M3 a few years ago I had actually gone through literally 4 sets of rims, 2 axels and a control arm in a 3 year span because of the lovely roads we have in Brooklyn. I work in Jersey so I hit the VZ everyday. But taking the Turnpike is a real blast in the cruise missile M5
