Dyno'd at 552whp on a DynoJet, stock car (EAS European Auto Source Dyno)

I stopped by today to meet the team at EAS and took care of the alignment, base dyno and shimmy after spacer install. Those guys are amazing and definitely know what they are doing. I chatted with Tom for a while and he definitely has a lot of knowledge in BMW's and the car industry all together.
My base dyno with no mods came at 552whp on a DynoJet. I was definitely surprised with that, but didnt complain. On to the dp install and another dyno.

HAHA totally forgot about the dog there. I was thinking you meant the exhaust, but it's so quiet.

Wow 552whp! I think that is the highest stock F10 dyno I have seen. Did you do CF delete? What did the torque look like?

I put them back in for the dyno. I really wanted to have a stock baseline.

Here is the graph. Notice the temperature.

Those are strong results, did you do the "Hard Brake-IN"?.
Pick mine up next week and want a strong none Oil eating engine.

Thanks for posting!

They are showing the dyno run in STD correction...if they toggle the WinPEP software to SAE correction, it would probably show 5-10hp less. SAE correction takes into account the ambient weather conditions (barometric pressure, humidity and temperature). STD uses the same weather factors but also corrects for elevation which is a manual input by the dyno operator.

The uncorrected one was 549 on the 3rd.

Definitely did the hard break in from mile 1. Make sure you don't hold rpms at a constant point. It's about hard acceleration and decceleration in gear. Go through the whole rpm range. At 4k miles still no drop of oil wasted.

Not sure what your point is. Incorrect to Dyno the f10/12/13 with hood open. I should have left this alone and I will. It is not correct though. Results suspect at best this way. PM me if you like.

I could see how maybe the hood being open could cause something in the computer to retard timing as a safety measure... But in no way would it help improve performance. Yes it might help reduce under hood temps but so would cooler air rushing in at 100+mph which is what you would see in 4th or 5th gear.

Apparently there is a longish procedure on how to properly dyno these cars to avoid all the different sensors giving false feedback to the DME/ECU. To get consistent and reliable numbers these procedures are claimed to be essential.

Agree that abandoning these "safety" measures won't increase power, but it might not give reliable and comparable readings. Have seen some dyno reports that gets strange behaviour and different results on multiple dyno runs.

I don't know ANYTHING about these procedures. Just saying what I have read elsewhere

I also don't know all of these procedures as well but having been laughed at by a BMW guy in Germany and hearing his explanation of certain reasons why it cannot be effectively read on a Dyno I sort of deferred to his opinion. His first comment was about hoods being up. He explained about the need to be data logging while the car is on the Dyno so that you can see that the DME is throttling the car up and down. It was done on my car and it was clearly visible. Had the Dyno guy scratching his head.

Always seen dynoes are done this way. I would think it helps especially when your car is inside of a hot shop. Let me know why it's bad. It's always good to hear other opinions.

Could you expand a little more on that subject. This is interesting.
