Side mirror removal

So I had a minor mishap over the weekend and my driver side mirror has been damaged. I ordered the cf replacement to fix part of it but still need to figure out if i can replace the other damaged part or if I need to go to a body shop to have it fixed. Has this happened to anyone else and if so can you tell me if I'm doing this right? Here is the pic of the damage for your reference.

If I'm looking at this right the black part damaged is the ring mount and can be ordered and replaced (part no. 51168050473). If this is so how do I remove the original part so that I can replace it? I pulled the cover off (MCB portion) and also took out the glass and it seems as though there are 5 torx screws holding it in....i'm thinking I just need to take the screws out and then i can replace this piece.

sure did. the black portion is replaceable just order the part from BMW. the mirror covers are a pain in the ass. i ordered a set of cf ones to replace and the tabs were broken so i couldn't get it to work. i should have just bought the mirror covers that go over the OEM ones. I'm going to just let it be for now and will worry about it after i get all my tunes done

Did JBSPEED ever resolve the issue with the CF covers being broken?
