check realoem.com to get an idea. But your dealer should cover it since that's the way it should have come.

Make the dealer switch them out for you. It doesn't matter how it happened or who decided to help themselves to parts off of YOUR car, the dealer needs to make it right. It's called customer service. There should be no cost to you.

One would assume after 2.5 years he either got it taken care of or moved on...

Clubcsl, mufflers are different, from what I gather they are a gutted version of stock, but haven't seen any cut open to confirm.

My new 2016 Comp Package came with black tips. One of them was not attached properly and there was another brand new one in the trunk. The come off very easily. I switched to the chrome pipes. You can't even see the black pipes on an Azurite Black car. I wouldn't sweat it...

Based on the amount of Individual content on this vehicle, I would guess that the original owner liked the chrome look better (to match other chrome accents) and swapped them out.

I have done this a number of times and left it that way at lease turn in.

Worth checking how loud it is vs non CP, then you can feel comfortable it's just tips. Might be part number on the exhaust you can check ?

I have a 2015 BMW M5 with a competition package, and I have chrome pipes also. I wonder if there is any way to check this with BMW NA directly.

Mine are chrome and I have the comp pack! Oh wait, I have the M-Perf exhaust, we could trade, he he. If it wasn't new when you got it, I'm sure someone just switched them out for the chrome accent...

Check the sound vs a Stock M5 as said above then take the tips off and get them powder coated black - job done?
