Details around the F10 M5 Diff fluid change

Anyone have details on how many quarts and the fluid type/part number to do the diff fluid change? I usually like to flush it every <30k miles.

I flushed mine but had my Indy shop do it, so I have no idea how much it takes.

The OEM diff oil viscosity is rated at 75w140 so I will use the Lucas diff oil instead as it worked great on my last M5

Dealer said 3.17 quarts are needed for a flush change

Completed the Diff oil change and only needed 2 quarts of Lucas synthetic diff oil....magnetic plug was full of metal particles after 50k miles....change well worth it

I don't think the rear diff takes 3qts on a change. A bit over 1 liter is about right (bit over a 1qt). If you don't use the original BMW stuff, make sure to add a 'friction modifier' to the oil. Otherwise you'll get chattering in the future. BMW puts the modifier in it's oil (written on the bottle)
I would go with 75w-140 synthetic Castrol. I actually just double checked....the Castrol LS 75w-140 has friction modifiers in the oil also.

I can confirm 1 liter. Did it today at 48000kms, then filled the old oil into the old container. It equaled about 0.95 liter (1qt). The old oil had quite a streaky dark shine (metallic)...so I think that even at 48k km's it wasn't necessarily too early.

The ecs kit also comes with 2 quarts? My car took 2 quarts.... 1 quart doesn't sound right when total capacity per dealer is 3.17 quarts...can anyone else confirm?

I let mine drain for 45minutes.... 0.95 liters came out. Tried to squeeze more in, wasn't happening.
