Loud clicking noise from wheel well!

So I just bought a 2016 M5 competition package two months ago. Had to take it in now for the second time due to a loud ticking noise coming from the divers side wheel well. Only clicks when the wheel is turned all the way, not if driving straight or slightly turned. Anyone have or have had a similar issue?

Ive had this issue before and it was as simple as a rock stuck in the metal shield behind the brake disc. You have to get underneath the car and move it around. It's very flexible. Mine was in the rear.

Apparently almost all new M's have this issue. Clicking noise when turning the wheel to the right (in my case). Bmw Germany send all of us who have M's here this thing in the picture. This is a add on not a change. And this solves the problem.
This is add on not a change.

Sorry for the bad pic, my iPhone camera lens is broken.

Much appreciated, my service advisor called me this morning and said they are changing the wheel bearing. If that doesn't fix it then I'll bring this up to them. What is that piece?

They are changing the wheel bearing at the dealer so hopefully that's the solution

I don't know what it is but it's a solution. No need to change wheel bearing I think

I also have problems with squeeling brakes, but whatever, as long as they get the clicking noise fixed I can live with it

2016 BMW M5  [0.00]
I had this issue recently but in the rear right tyre assembly. I tried to drive normally for a few weeks but then it just got too unbearable. It wasn't just clicking but click + creaking and would happen at all speeds, more noticeable when pulling away. This happened suddenly after about 6 months of perfect behavior.

Got an appointment and took it in. They kept it for a week and during the time I got impression they weren't really able to pin it down. Finally fixed it: loose strut.

Drives like a dream now. Again.

Yea my service advisor just called me and said the tech noticed it coming from both the passenger and driver side wheels. Ive only had the car a little more than 2 months. Oh and also they were able to identify the brakes squeaking from the rear. A little disappointed.

Thanks I appreciate the help. I'm about to take the car back for the 3rd time concerning the issue. This last time they said it was the wheel ybearings and replaced both of the front ones. Got the car back and it was ok for about a week then the noise came back. I'm going to show my service advisor these pictures. Hopefully this helps. Kind of ridiculous when you know more than the service advisor does

I too had this issue after an 800 mile trip. Every time I turned to the right I could hear a clicking noise.

The first dealer I went to said it was the strut bearing. I drove back home and went to a local dealer who said it was the wheel bearings.

Prior to bringing car to dealer for the issue, I washed the rims and it reduced the noise a lot (almost unnoticeable). They just replaced my wheel bearings, and there's no clicking noise at all now.

It's not the bearings , it's the whole bearing hub assembly . The bearing literally has play in how it sits in the hub assembly . Just replacing the bearing won't fix it .

My M6 did this on both sides when cruising thru the canyons. Nothing to worry about, doesnt affect anything. The car is heavy, and under suspension load things stress. The noise never gets louder and again it affects nothing and goes away after things cool down.. its quite common, so just drive harder and forget about it Cheers

My thoughts exactly which is why BMW bought the car back. I'll try again with the one that comes out at the end of the year

There is a service bulletin on this. They need to remove the bearing , lubricate and reinstall it.

With mine, not only did they remove and reinstall the bearings. But replaced them completely. Still didn't fix it. Then they even changed the complete wheel hub and it still didn't work. Noise would go away for a couple days then come back louder and louder day by day.

They bought the whole car back because of the noise?
