Battery Error

I just got this error today.. about two days after I got my V1 installed. I was told it was hard wired to a dedicated fuse in the glove, and I verified it switches off about 3 seconds after turning the car off. Looks like the car detected a drain and therefore turned off all electronics?

Anyone else? Do I need to change how it's hard wired, how so?

Mine did this. My V1 is wired to a switched feed in the overhead console. The first tap didn't turn off when the ignition was switched off. So we re-did it and found another source.

Are you sure it turns off after 3 seconds? I'd find another power source if this error continues to happen.

Yeah I checked and just checked again while sitting in the car for 5 minutes watching its power down sequence.. seems like the car powers down in multiple stages. However, the V1 powers down 3 seconds after hitting the start/stop button.

Went thru this during the install process and had the tech properly connect the power to the right source. Found out by making a few calls to BMW techs that the most reliable key switch power is one wire coming out of the trunk fuse block. Works like a charm. BTW, almost all other key switch power sources will confuse the DME due to the proximity logic of the key fobs.
