F10 M5 vs F06 M6 GC Handling

I'm looking to trade in my e92 m3 for either an m5 or m6 gc. I drove both and it seemed like they handled similarly. Can anyone chime in on whether one handles better than the other?

I haven't driven a M6GC but there are some owners who have had both who can chime in. As far as Im concerned, The M5CP should handle better then the M6GC. And the M6GC should handle better then the standard M5. M6 should handle better then all of them.

M5 handles better than M6GC. Many of us sampled them both in Sepang and all felt the same way. M5 is sharper and more communicative. Most importantly, M5 has better visibility and you always have a good feel of where the car is on the road. If u don't need the space and prefer form over function, then the GC is a no brainer. It's looks a million bucks.

Well all I can tell you is that the M6 Coupe I have now handles significantly better then my '13 M5.. not sure how the GC compares but have heard that the M5 is a bit sharper in some areas.

I heard better but not "Significantly better" -
But I believe more than 150 lbs lighter like 200 lbs or so and several inches shorter so a no Brainer M6 should handle better than M5 but M6GC (That I haven't tested) looks better and handles close to M5.

My 2 cents sir -
Enjoy the beast -

I went 2013 M5 to 14 GC w/ CP. Huge difference between the two.... Likely the CP being the difference I feel. Looks... Well all I can say is there is no comparison. M5 seems so common with all of the regular 5 series you see around. M6 GC is much more exclusive and is much better looking between the 2. Just my $.02

I agree on M5/M6GC for sure. Haven't driven an M6 in a way that I could really push it to be able to compare.

Agreed, M6 GC Cp miles better than my LCI M5, so much so I have the M6 GC CP on order.
Could be the CP on the 6.
PS) lots of the mag testers agree the GC is better to drive too.
Interesting but inconclusive.

I think they handle pretty close but the MGGC seemed to feel more "planted". I agree on the looks aspect as many have commented. The m5 looks so much like a 5 series M sport that many people have a hard time telling them apart.

One of them certainly looks more feminine than the other.

M6GC is nothing but an M7. Even BMW's own people made similar comments in the past.

The M6GC backseat is utterly useless. The divider in the middle is just so uncomfortable. Also there is no headroom at all. I am more comfortable in a F30 328 than I am in a M6GC and I mean that (in the backseat obviously). At that price point, I'd rather get a regular M6 and order it individual.

what a load of crap.
I have the LCI M5 and knee room in the rear is miles LESS than the M6 GC, head room is 1" less at the rear which for anyone 6 foot or less is NO problem at all.
The M6 GC IMO is the better car, and I have ordered it, if I thought there was No room in the back seats I would NOT have one.
Yes the centre section is useless but 4 good seats are all I need.

I drove the GC CP and M5 CP back to back, I don't understand how anyone in their right mind would say GC is a sportier better perfuming ride. It's a lot softer and comfortable (if thats what you want). The trunk is too small and the backseat is really uncomfortable. Because of the raised middle section, the 2 seats are not that comfortable. I guess to each his own.

this is funny lol i posted same thing on m6 forum and they said m6 handles better

at the end of the day, lap times dont lie. m5 lap times > m6 gc lap times

Makes sense, the only way it would handle better is if it has the Comp package. Remember its heavier, longer, and just as wide as the M5.

BMW themselves said the suspension is tuned to be a bit softer, not sure why some auto journalists seem to prefer it. I guess they like the more relaxed ride? Softer suspension, longer wheelbase, and more weight would generally mean the M5 should have the edge around the track.
