Extended warranty and maintenance - Pricing?

I just got off the phone with a SoCal BMW dealership to get some quotes on extended warranty and maintenance. Just want to hear your guys' opinions on the following numbers.

Btw, I have a 2013 M5 with 31K miles.

Extended warranty:

100K miles/7 years - Platinum protection @ $7995 with $50 deductible.

70K miles/7 years - Platinum protection @ $6995 with $50 deductible.

Extended maintenance:

100K miles/6 years - $4495.

Do these quotes look okay?

That seems about right. So is that 7 years from original purchase date or 7 years after the 4 year factory warranty expires?

I got 100,000miles/+2 years after the factory warranty expires for $5,995.

I passed on the extended maintenance though. If they covered Carbon Ceramic brake replacement on the extended maintenance plan and if my car had the CCB's I would've probably gotten it.

Thanks for the reply! It's 7 years after original purchase.

Are these contract prices negotiable? The prices seem very high.

What about third party extended warranty? Are any of them any good?

Thanks.

I actually got a great deal from Jim Martinez from Steve Thomas BMW. Way lower than those that I posted originally in the first post. I initially thought that dealer had the best prices. Boy was I wrong.

Contact Greg Poland at Pacific BMW. He has great pricing on extended warranties and maintenance contracts.

It's funny you mentioned that because that's where I got the quotes that I originally posted!

I didn't talk to Greg though.

You have to talk to Greg and mention you're from Bimmerpost.
Great guy and honest! I just bought an M5 from him in Aug.

Information on this topic seems to be pretty scarce.

Every company I've read about has had positive and negative reviews.

Easycare was one of them I recall

The consensus I got was to go the CPO route through BMW, it's the best option and isn't dramatically more expensive than a 3rd party warranty

Bumping this back up...

2013 M5 owners please post-up what extended warranties you are purchasing.

A 2013 M5 purchased in 2016, if CPO, would only have 2-3 yrs of coverage left, if 7yr extended warranty then 3-4yrs...pretty good actually

I bought my car 2 years ago, 2013 M5, with a 7 year extended (past the original 4 years, thus 11 years total coverage) 100K mile warranty. Was able to negotiate from $6K to $3K, best time to buy warranty is during car purchase.

Are you sure it's 11 years total? I think it's 7 years total/100K miles.

That's one of the options presented to me when I got mine. I haven't heard of 11 years total.

You're right about the best time to buy is during the car purchase, but many of us don't know if we want to keep the car for that long at the time of purchase.

11 years / 100k? Doesn't make sense... it should be 7 years / 100k

The warranty is 7 year 100k miles. My point was that it's 7 years past the original 4 year warranty.
