2016 BMW F10 M5 BPM Sport Stage 2 Tune Review
Hey all,
Thought I'd write a review of the BPMSport Stage 2 Tune that I recently bought for my 2016 BMW M5. I had been full bolt-on with a stock tune for a while and noticed a lot of happy forum members with BPM Sport, so I decided to give it a try. Customer Service: Before purchasing, I communicated with Mike, the owner, both via email and phone. He seemed very knowledgeable and answered every question I had. I let him know about my modifications to the car and the terrible 91oct fuel I have here in the Bay Area, CA. He said he'd take everything into account when creating the tune. Responses have been quick, very satisfied with their customer service. Loading the Tune: The process of loading the tune is more intricate than others. First, you need to receive their OBD cable, which will be tied to the car once you start. You also need a Windows computer. After installing the BPM Software, you follow the instructions to send your datalog parameters to Mike. This will put you in a queue to have your tune file created. Once you get the tune back in a couple of days to a week, you follow some more instructions to load it. Overall an easy process, but it definitely takes more time than loading an OTS tune from other vendors. I did have a battery charger connected to avoid any possible issues due to a weak battery. Tune Review: Wow! This is my favorite part, it feels like I have a new car! The sound is even deeper too. The power is very linear and it doesn't give it all at low RPMs, therefore preventing bent rods or blown engines. Drivability is much better at all levels, the car feels smoother under normal driving and much faster under WOT. Running very strong and happy! Other things to note: You need a step colder NGK Spark Plugs gapped at 0.022 or 0.024. Put in the highest octane gas possible. I had an issue where the car was hesitating a bit due to bad gas. I then added Chevron and 5 gallons of 101 race gas, and it was a night and day difference! Other performance mods on the car are M-Perf. Titanium exhaust, PG front mount intakes, PG charge coolers, and Meisterschaft 90mm catless downpipes. I'm very happy with this purchase and it is 100% worth it! Thanks to M6Roar for helping me with understanding logs, Droner for talking with me about his experience with BPM Sport and Stage 1 93, Blaxwil for having many many miles on this tune and vouching for it, and the others who provided a review. I will keep this thread updated as the car continues to adapt and more miles are driven. Thanks, Raz |

I had a Stage 1 BPM tune on my wish list, until I hit a chunk of concrete, popped a tire, then ended up replacing all of them. -$1600 :-( One of these days...

What a bummer! I need new tires too, sliding everywhere if I put my foot down even a little. Which ones did you get?

Conti DWS06, I just couldn't stomach the extra grand for the PS4S, considering I only drive it about 3000 miles a year. They seem great so far, quiet, traction much improved. Put the 305s in the rear and they look really good.

If race gas isn't available, is there a specific fuel additive or octane booster recommended to get the tank up into the 92-94 octane range?
