Capitalism at its finest.

On bimmerfest one of the dealers is thinking the gas guzzler tax is no longer existent being that it was written out in legislation. Still pending confirmation.

The only thing I can guess is BMW FS know it will be a high demand car so they can set the residual low to recoup the money they won't be making on the MF given how low interest rates are right now.

Unfortunately, the m6 and b7 will have worse depreciation than the m5. Hence an even lower residual on the both the m6 and the b7. You can look these up historically by month. Bang for the buck an ED m5 is the way to go, even with the 48% residual.

The M6 had a better residual, not worse. The M5 has the lowest residual of any BMW at this point.

I woke up this morning and was hoping the 48% residual was just a bad dream...

.
Yes it does when you think about these two facts:
1) the 5-series LCI is right around the corner so this car will look a little dated in a year - and I think it's reasonable to assume the LCI M5 will have extra features like the full black panel instruments
2) The M6 Grand Coupe is around the corner and from what I've read it will have MORE power than the M5.

So the M5's value should indeed drop pretty quickly imho.
