Hope they've been hiding a 10 cylinder turbo and X drive with launch control

I just don't see it... He is most definitely not staying true to the M brand. With the FI motors and weight. But the M5 was never all that light to begin with. Still the new M3 is not looking good at the moment to me at least.
The change in philosophy on the presentation of the M-brand. Yes, most die hard fans will complain because of the discomfort in change (i.e: turbo etc), but think about it. A director who deals/presents a product directly to the public...while still being involved rigorously on the production side. Its a first for me quite honestly (from BMW).

In the past....we have had pictures and written data as the only form of speculation, now we get audio visual pre-production info on a product way before its premier.

That for me says a lot about the importance of the M-Brand to BMW. Keeping your stakeholders always informed is a good thing in my eyes...in a way it also helps them to get feedback before the release of a final product, which is a good thing for us end-users.

Just a thought

I can't believe how fearful people are of change.

BMW are trying the best they can to make great handling cars with powerful big engines that still rock your world when you drive them. I can't think of a single ///M car out there that is a disssapointment within it's class.

Every time something about M cars are a bit different people go up in arms, and time after time they get lauded as best in class. Why? Because BMW M know what they're doing, no matter the restrictions placed on them. Simple as that.

This ///M5 promises to be a monster[/QUOTE]

Agree, the New M5 could stand to lose some pounds but Turbo is the future for economy and power. To me the M5 is a big powerhouse sedan, the M3 is a nimbler version and the 1M fills the departed M Coupe's niche of light and even nimbler. There are now M models for all tastes, even for those who prefer trucks.. That's really not a bad thing despite what the purists might think. BTW I drive a very "pure" M Roadster but also admire creations like the X6M, although I wouldn't buy one.

Stop spewing BS. There have been no reports of the M5 having xDrive.

What I find interesting is the winter scene - why is nobody really questioning this? What's an M car doing ripping around in snow? SERIOUSLY, WTF!

Herr says 570+hp, I really think ^ really have some merit. We are seeing an extremely powerful car on snow - it's not going to do it without x-drive.

For the people who's driven the X5M/X6M - imagine that car with a lower centre of gravity, less weight, more powerful, faster gearbox and better chasis.

So if a Ferrari 458 drives on snow it must have all wheel drive?

The italia MUST have all wheel drive since it's on clear ice.

Help. I'm surrounded by idiots. Until I see BMW tell me it's going to have xDrive(which I am pretty sure it won't). Your speculations are moot.

That's a different log-in. Just click on 'Closed Room' at the top of the page and then follow the 'Sign Up' link. Once registered you can submit your dreams/ideas about the M5. Hope this helps.

Best regards,
south
