Break in service at 1000 Miles

My dealer's service manager told me today that they want to do the break-in service when they change the oil pump . The car has 1000 miles on it . What do you guys think? ( in fact what he said is that the car is "calling for it").

Sounds fine to me. Seems a little silly to put the higher viscosity break-in oil for 200 miles and then do another oil change.

If it were my car going in at 1000 miles for the oil pump issue, I would have them do the break in service as well. I HIGHLY doubt that those extra 200 miles really play a deciding factor in the car being properly broken in. I have read about many members having their break in service done a few hundred miles early on their E92 M3's. It worked out just fine. Good luck!

Thanks I appreciate both your responses . I need to make sure then that they don't put back in the higher viscosity pre-break in oil that I think is going to come with the replacement oil pump.

Higher Viscosity Oil are you kidding, no such thing in 2013 must have changed things.
