Help with steering wheel swap

Hello guys. I tried to swap my old steering wheel for one that was in better condition. I watched all the videos I could find and it looked super simple. But guess what? It wasn't. Took about 20 mins to take the airbag off. I tried different tools but it just required way more force to push that little bar up than the videos depicted. After I got it off, I wasn't able to release the little connector for the single yellow wire. I watch the other videos and it just pops out with no effort. But on mine I even tried using piliers to wriggle it out but no luck. I thought there was some secret latch but there wasn't any. I dunno if my Canadian car has something different but just won't come off. I stopped after I thought I was damaging the connector too much. Am I missing something? Please help.

It can't be one piece for Canada cars only so can only think it's has some panzer glue on it. I keep some super glue remover in the fridge, just a thought get some and try that prizing it gently.

Not sure which yellow wire, but when I swapped mine, it was pretty straightforward (as was a 2013 canadian M5).

This yellow wire. My connector looks the same but for the life of me I can pull it out. Hard to get a good grip on it because the plug is tied down with a zip tie. I'm tempted to snip the zip tie and replace it after.

I'm going to say it just pops out but you need to release the lock tab. Can't recall if it's one you push in or out.

Yeah the big connector is just a push release. The smaller one looking at the video doesn't. Maybe I'm just feeble.
