Seeing how the M4 is a coupe 6 banger turbo, lets compare it to another coupe 6 banger turbo. The only problem that I have, is when people compare Porsche and BMW together. They are totally different kinds of cars. You cant argue which one is better. They both excel in their own class.
I see your point too. I've always thought of P-Cars as the car that is more focused for track driving and driving excitement. Almost no performance P-Car has the utility of an ///M, i.e. trunk and cargo space, but almost no ///M car has the clear focus of a P-Car. I mean a stock 14' Cayman-S with the PDK can do 0-60 in only 4.2seconds and it only has 325hp from a NA engine! But try filling a Cayman-S with a couple of medium sized suitcases for a long trip, can't be done. Both an 15' M4 and a 15' Cayman-S can be optioned out with very very close price points, yet they have so many similarities and a few big differences. It's just a variety that I'm glad that we have in today's car market. Variety is the spice of life you know.
I am looking at a trailer hitch and one of those landscape trailers for my 991! Sport Utility!

Yes you are wrong . This is my comp pack with intake and SS catted DP otherwise bone stock . Non ideal conditions , 0 slope ,lots of wheel spin , no launch control used, stock wheels , tires pressure , etc . Oh and this is at 100 miles post DP install the ECU is still adapting as the top of 4th gear is actually slower than before bc of the ECU sorting out the higher flow .Even tuned with bolt on hardware the M3/4 will have trouble matching this in the real world . The 30-130 time of 10.5 sec is half a second faster than what BMW performance magazine got out of the Evolve supercharged 600 hp E92 in a recent shoot out
Evolve Supercharged E92 M3 vs F13 M6 and others. Oh and 7 sec faster than a 445 hp tuned 1M with a very similar motor to the S55 .....

08-Oct-13 : Evolve Automotive
We attended a shoot out organised by Performance BMW Magazine that pitched modified BMW's against the new F13 M6. The magazine featuring this article is the July 2013 edition which is readable in PDF format below.

30-130 MPH results on the day with claimed BHP by the car owners. The test was carried out at private runway with a positive (uphill) slope. The times should therefore be taken in context with the cars tested on the day.

Evolve SC M3 600 BHP 11.3

Stock F13 M6 11.8

DMS E60 M5 590 BHP 13.6

ESS E39 M5 640 BHP 14.7

Ray West 1M 454 BHP 17.6

Bearing in mind that the new F13 M6 costs £100,000 we are pleased that you can build a car, in this case a E92 M3 DCT, which is faster than the new BMW flagship model for less than half the cost. No taking anything away from the new M6 though as it is a fantastic car out of the box. Imagine what some tuning will do for it!

I love how many of these discussions on various things devolve into a M vs. P-car debate...

M cars are awesome -- glad to see this new M3/M4 is going to be amazing in its class

P-cars are (by and large) awesome -- only reason Porsche sells some of the less bespoke variants is because the market demands it -- its just good business

I Love my M5... if I had another 6 figures for another car, the 911 would be on the top of the list by a wide margin. It not a matter of if I will ever own a 911, but when.

Let's quit arguing over the flavor of ice cream and be happy that we even get to enjoy it!

Porsche is well on the way to becoming a full-line luxury car manufacturer.

In 2014 their line up includes 2 SUVs, 1 Sedan, 2 Sports cars (both with coupe and convertible variants). This means they make more non-sports cars than sports cars. In 2017, they will have one more sedan. And the longer-term outlook is for broader chassis sharing with Audi which means even more models which take Porsche away from its roots. I would expect Porsche versions of the A4 (TBD), A6 (Pajun), A8 (Panamera Gen2), Q3 (Planned), Q5 (Macan), Toureg (Cayenne), and TT (planned sub-Boxster 3 cylinder sports car). They will also get a higher end model above the 911 based on collaboration with Lamborghini.

I don't think this is a bad thing. I am looking forward to the Pajun, and for the integration of more Audi technology into Porsche.

Of course Maserati is also going away from its core market. And BMW did it a long time ago.

boxster, cayman, carrera, 918 supercar....thats still more sports cars though isn't it?

i would also argue that they also make a GT3 (which is hardly jsut a variant of a 991 base model), a GT2, and a cup car available for sale.

So that way more sports cars than others.

Btw, I really don't want audi/vw things getting into porsches. it should be the other way around.

VW and Posche has been close since the inception. Ferdinand Porsche designed the Beetle by a Nazi germany request which was the start of VW in 1938 when the first factory was built. Porsche's own first cars shared much with the Beetle. Component sharing both ways is benefitial when done right and these two siblings has many years of practice. Porsche is IMO by a margin the worlds best auto maker today. I'm looking forward to them expanding their model range. Their sports cars do not suffer from it.

Very good post. Back to topic. In the end we will see which car is faster. M5 and M3/4 will need to line up and race! THAT will give us the truth!

This is what I'm looking for from the Pajun Turbo - a blend of RS7 and Porsche
- Audi RS7 engine (next gen)
- Audi next-gen A6 chassis with weight saving mods by Porsche
- Porsche electric power steering
- Porsche DCT
- Porsche suspension (PASM and PDCC)
- Porsche styling interior and out
- Porsche quality materials and finishes
- Porsche weight saving tech
- Audi Navigation, Infotainment and HUD

I was rolling about 40 mph and stomped it after switching lanes in an underpass. It kicked out sideways, roared and squealed the ties so loud. It was AWESOME! Totally surprised me.

Side note: I swapped the DP over to the M6 when I sold the M5. That in my opinion is the BEST thing you can do for these cars right now hands down.

I highly recommend the Supersprints . The HJS catalyzers are better than OEM quality . It's amazing that if have gone from 600 cell to 200 cell and have zero fuel smell, no CEL , fantastic sound and as evidenced by my car's Vbox times excellent performance gains . I will let everyone know if the no CEL is permanent , but it's looking promising .

Yeah man. I bought it for her to drive! She always gives me shit about having the fastest car! She better watch it or I'll replace it with a minivan. No way! My wife rocks!

Very cool. So there is a 600 cell primary and a 400 cell secondary. Assuming they deleted the secondary and swapped the primary with a 200?

How much were they? Just curious so people can make comparisons. Mine are true OEM with only a 400 cell. No smell. No CEL (on either car) and looking at them no one could ever tell they were not OEM.
