Not at all. Euro Delivery is a great experience and absolutely worth it
One just has to have the right expectations regarding re delivery/wait .

I'm debating on whether or not to do ED, does anyone have any experience here with it that could please tell me more about it? |

Or your dealer can access the same data. However the production itself is only a week (if you're not building a true BMW Individual spec'd car) so it's just a matter of patience

I was going to do Euro Delivery, because the girlfriend likes travelling and I like the lower rate of tax of an already owned car compared to a fresh one the dealer's bringing in. Alas, she didn't have enough vacation days built up, so we didn't go for it this time. As for the build of an Individual - it's worth knowing that if the Individual aspect includes paint then the car will be pulled from the line before the paint shop, and a batch of Individual paint jobs will be done sequentially as soon as they can batch them up. This usually means a 2 week delay, but possibly as high as 6, if they don't usually have that colour of paint in that factory. |

Hmmm, I'm going for ED #16 in August for an M6 vert. I've had a few flubs, but none that would qualify as a "Big Mistake".

I think it could be a "big mistake" as far as getting your car to you in the US as fast as possible is concerned. Hell of an experience, though. I'd love to do it.

Well let me explain my big mistake. I would never have done ED if I'd known it was even a possibility of this kind of wait for re-delivery.
I'm much more of a car fanatic than a travel person. I've been to Europe a dozen times but I've never owned a car like the M5. So the vacation/tourist aspect was not a big deal to me but having an M5 is. I figured 10 weeks at most for re-delivery and now it's at week 11 going on 12 and still no car in sight and no ETA. It's just ridiculous. |

Has been off the boat for nearly a month now. It's in the VPC black hole at the moment.

Once it is released to trucking, you can go as far as finding out when the truck is schedule to pickup the car and deliver it to the dealer. Good luck, but start with asking to see the vehicle status.

I was told that it's 2-3 weeks to the east coast then the boat goes down to the Panama canal and up the west coast to get to Oregon after 4 weeks total. Once the boat has docked it's about a week to the dealer.

Two weeks at sea, but the holdup is always when it gets on a boat and how long it sits at port. My delivery to the east coast took 8 weeks, sat for ten days in Bremerhaven, then 18 days at the US port before I complained, then the car miraculously appeared the very next day. ED will take longer than regular deliveries due to US Customs.

Through the Panama canal, and on its way to the port in Los Angeles. After that, customs, and my dealer, who will be applying the IND Aftermarket parts for me.

It made its way to San Diego. It's sat there for a day. The boat is now on its way to ... Long Beach. Just get to bloody Oxnard already!
