New M5 coming - questions

Hi everyone, I am fairly new to this sub forum, but I've been on the F13 post for years. I posted this message on the M5 fest as well.

A little car history: My current car is a 2012 650i. Before that I had an E92 M3 DCT and from 2002 to 2006 I had the quintessential E39 M5 6sp. The gap from 2006-2008 I lived in the UK where my wife drove a 120d 5 door (great car we don't get in the states) and I had an E class.

So my questions are:

1) Where can I download the current 2015 M5 owners manual? It's not on BMWUSA.com.

2) Did your M5 come with the Michelin PSS or are some being delivered with Pirellis? (I prefer the PSS)

3) Is there a noticeable difference between the comfort and sport settings on the suspension?

4) How many manual and auto settings on the MDCT? My M3 had 5 each.

5) Anyone that came from a 6 series - thoughts, impressions?

6) What material is on the console? I know it's not the same as specified on the dash.

Thanks for your feedback.

1) Where can I download the current 2015 M5 owners manual? It's not on BMWUSA.com.
Here is the 2013 Manual. The 2015 manual shouldn't be significantly different.
http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=762582

2) Did your M5 come with the Michelin PSS or are some being delivered with Pirellis? (I prefer the PSS)
PSS for me. Some have had the Pirellis (a few threads on the topic). Most prefer the PSS.

3) Is there a noticeable difference between the comfort and sport settings on the suspension?
Yes. It is more noticeable with aggressive driving on twists, etc.

4) How many manual and auto settings on the MDCT? My M3 had 5 each.
3 for each (Drive and Sequential). See pages 70-73.

5) Anyone that came from a 6 series - thoughts, impressions?
Not myself, but many on here have had both.

6) What material is on the console? I know it's not the same as specified on the dash.

Thanks. For question 6 I was referring to the hard console trim around the shifter, idrive knob, cup holders, etc, not the soft trim. Is it black plastic, piano black wood, or something else??

surrounding is black plastic (or leather, I forgot), if you purchased the carbon fiber trim after delivery, this will be replaced with carbon fiber, the silver part is always there.

Bonz, congrats on your new car. I don't know if you have gotten the car or ordered it yet. If not just keep in mind, Full Merino Leather is a MUST specially when you are coming from F13

Hi. I just got out of my 2008 650i and into my new M5 just one month ago.

i was scared of letting the 650 go as i loved it for the 5 years i had it.

Main reason for the change was to get back to 4 doors and no more ridiculously long coupe doors (used to groan out loud trying to squeeze in and out of car in a packed carpark.... might have to put it down to old age....)

M5 is amazing,,,, you will love it and not look back....

great features etc, will soon make the 650i a distant memory....

Thanks. Door size hasn't been an issue as we have huge car parks around here and I always park WAY THE F OUT. But I am looking forward to the versatility of being able to drive me mates to lunch or the golf course.

This is leather. But it is a different type of leather to all the other leather in the car. It's a very hard wearing leather. Won't scratch easy.

Congratulations.

Your dealer had Mercedes and BMW on the same premises ?
I know one wanted to do that here but Mercedes AG forbid it. Interesting they allow it there.

Yes they do. There's also Toyota on the other side (behind the camera).

Very interesting.

Here they may not even be located on the same block according to the Germans.

Costs owners that have 2 or more of those franchises a fortune since they need to erect totally separate facilities for each one.

BMW of Lincoln also has both brands under one roof.

It is nice to easily compare the inferiority of the entire Merc lineup compared to BMW.

Congrats again!! When you create an account on BMWUSA website (may be you already have one), click on the link for your car, there are many options and one of them is your car manual in PDF document. Hope this helps. Good luck...

That's an old post. I've had the manual for a while. Thanks.

Nice car (you can't go wrong with Monte Carlo Blue).

Also, like what others mentioned, I'm surprised that BMW and MB can be sold in the exact same premises. I'm surprised the manufacturers would even allow such a setup............although I guess the way car businesses are run in America as well as the kind of dealership setup and structure over there in the USA allows for that (???)
