DCT Shift mode speed

Is there a difference between shift mode 2 and 3 in terms of speed (manual shifting)? In 3 I can certainly feel the "jerk" as it up shifts but does it actually shift any faster? I'm finding I prefer setting 2 as its smoother but still quicker than setting 1. On downshifts, I find this DCT to be slower than others. It changes gears quickly but the clutch let out seems to lag just a tad compared to other DCTs I've driven.

I like Mode 2 the best. I am always in Manual Mode. Only used Auto mode when I took my test drive. Lol

Yeh. I'm finding it more fun to shift my own gears. Still miss driving a manual, but it's a close second to rowing your own gears. Just want to know if the speed is different...

i think it just "hits" harder. Shifts the same speed. it is like when you shift and you let your clutch out abruptly(S3) instead of smooth/quick(S2)

+1

Not so much the speed of the shift as it is the line pressure in the trans.

Just hits harder!

Shift speed is different . The slowest one is 1 and the fastest one is 3 and it is about the time torque is transmitted. That's the time the Dual Clutch will switch between two clutches (for odd or even gears) so the speed tells the TCU (Transmission Control Unit) how fast to disengage the current gear and then engage the next gear... you might be interested to watch this video...

3 is definitely quicker than 2, especially if you have your foot down when you do it. In 3, you can hear a slight tyre squeal, a gunshot noise through the exhaust and feel a slight jolt in the car - as well as it shifting a bit quicker than 2.

But I see what you guys mean, 2 is already pretty quick as it is.

Has anyone tried '1' in manual mode? Its hilariously slow at gear shifts compared to 2 or 3. 1 reminds me of my old Mercedes!

Thanks fellas for feedback

Anyone else feel it's a bit slow on the down shift side in all gears? I feel like the clutch let out is a bit slow...

At the track I've noticed the 3rd to 2nd downshift is slow. It feels as if the reengagement of the clutch takes too long. I posted that long ago and wondered if the clutch timing is something that can be coded. No response to that question and since it's not a big deal I haven't pursued it with the dealer. I know I could do that downshift manually faster than the DCT does, not the upshifts though!
