I Can't Take the Brake Dust Anymore.......CarboTech or Cool Carbon?

I don't know if you've guys seen my Mika v3.0 thread but I report on the performance of the Cool Carbons there.

I'll reiterate. These brakes pads are amazing. They have good bite on the street and the dust virtually non-existent. I got mine from ECS Tuning for $189 and I got EBC Redstuff for my rear pads since Cool Carbon doesn't make pads for the rear. I got the EBC pads from AutoAnything.com for only $50 bucks and they work awesome too! No dust on the rear wheels whatsoever either! I recently got new wheels so I knew I wanted to get something that makes very little brake dust.

Additionally I took these pads on the track at Fontana for Bimmerfest. They honestly performed poorly on the racetrack, but still exhibited a little bit better performance than the OEM BMW pad for M cars. I was getting brake fade pretty bad despite having upgraded stainless steel brake lines and racing brake fluid. The weight of the M5 doesn't help either. For track days, I'm going to switch to Carbotech Race Pads in the future and see how they do.

Sorry to bring the thread back alive but im have crazy brake dust on my M6 Gran Coupe and with Gold wheels its very noticeable. Do you guys reccommend the Carbotech or Cool Carbon?? Is one better than the other? Anyone have experience with both?

I have Cool Carbon for the fronts. No change to stopping power and extremely less dust. Definitely recommend...

Same here; cool carbon fronts with no noticeable decrease in stopping power and dust is non-existent. Hope this helps.

Guess ill go with the cool carbon fronts and pair them with the Akebono rears. My wheels stand out like crazy and the dust is very recognizable. Its so bad ill have the car washed.....drive to a meet or carshow and have to go to the trunk and get the supplies out to clean the wheels. ugh

Are the cool carbon pads and Akebono pads black? I have the Carbotech 1521's and my only complaint was having to paint them black since they come bright red.

i was reading thru this like yes ima order cool carbon rt now and now you say discontinued ?

i have carbotech's fr and rears been on for about 2k+miles , what i noticed is yes less dust but also less stopping for sure!!! in addition if i actually drive and beet the car and brakes the wheel's will be filthy (also have gold wheels) then to top it off the carbo tech's are RED ugh!

im ready to buy cool carbons and EBC padds for rear asap , pls update the thread if anyone finds any info

You may want to look into Akebono as a back-up plan. I have them on my rears but have not tried on the fronts.

Akebono doesnt make the front and Carbotech doesnt make the rears! Its hell trying to find brakes for these cars
