How to reset "Service in XX"?

I had an oil service done at BMW recently, and the oil change interval was correctly reset, but am still met with the "Service in 8000 km/September 2018" in the instrument cluster.

I would have thought the "Service in XX" should be linked to the oil change, even with the BMW condition based servicing?

Can it be reset, other than going to BMW?

To reset, turn on ignition (don't start). Press and hold odometer reset until service menu appears (10-15 sec). Then you can navigate to which service item you want to reset. To actually reset, hold the odometer button for 3-5 sec....done.

Not working for me. A menu pulls up with the following options:

01 Identification
02 Test
03 Start roller
04 Test end
10 Unlock

Thoughts?

I get that menu too, Yellow Jacket, that menu is called the secret menu. Just cycle the ignition and try again. I think it works best as soon as the chime goes off and odometer is displayed. It shouldn't take more than 10 seconds. You can also YouTube it and see for yourself.

I had the door open and a bud told me it had to be closed. Tried it and it worked like a charm. Thanks
