M5 or M4... 2 kids
Looking at either a 2013 M5, fully loaded SO on SO, or a M4 black on black with cabin trim. The M5 has 22k miles and the M4 has 5k miles and is CPO Elite up to 75k miles. M5 is $64k and the M4 is $70. We have 2 children (4 and 3 months) but they are not in the car often so not too worried about getting them in and out. But would like room for a stroller in the trunk.
Drove both and love them both... But is a 2013 that will soon be out of warranty worth it over a M4 with a long warranty? Thanks in advance! |

If you can't get a warranty extension on the M5. Stay away, these things are pigs if your out of warranty.
If not, HANDS DOWN M5. Man car.

I went through this same process earlier this year. I figure it would be a huge pain to strap 2 kids into a coupe, even if it wasn't often. Plus, parent hat on, in case of an accident, I wanted doors to access the kids in the rear seats.
However, I am a big fan of warranties on these expensive cars, so......my vote is m5 with aftermarket warranty. You shouldn't be paying anything north of 60k for a MY2013; their warranties are about up. |

In my opinion in your case the answer is M5 but this 2013 M5 is over priced unless it's fully loaded.
Any idea about the original MSRP?

Who ever set those prices
Prices are always set with some negotiation room. As a minimum I would negotiate the cost of an extended warranty.
With 22k miles there should be no significant wear on any component other that those considered semi-consumables and not covered by warranty, like tyres and brake pads. The car should have several years without major repairs. Ask to see the warranty repair history to see if anything major has been required up until now. Cars with lots of failures usually continue to fail, whereas those with none or few generally continue to be reliable Getting kids in and out of car seats in a coupe is a pain and very good way to cause a back injury. I would go for the M5 every time. |

You probably should not expect a different response here - m5
I went from e46 m3 with at that time 5 and 1.5 year olds to e90 m3 expecting two extra doors to make a big difference. It made some difference but not as substantial compared to f10 m5 move last year. |

I have two kids as well, 4 yrs old and 6 yrs old. I went from a 3 series wagon and quickly (1 month) traded it up to an F10 535. The interior and trunk space on the 3 series is unbearable for me. during the winter time, their jackets would just take up the whole back seat and cover my rear view. hands down 5 series for me. With that said, Ive sold my 535 and now looking for the perfect M5.

I would try for a certified 2014 M5. If you can find one with the comp pack, even better. Few minor tweaks for 2014. Should be a few 2014's coming off 3 year leases now.

I've owned both and have 2 young kids. No contest...M5. For so many reasons; luxury, quality, speed, SOUND (eisenmann upgrade) and huge practicality over M4.
I sold the M5 for a M4. Regretted that move. Good luck |

M5. Its sedan vs coupe and in a few years if you go with the M4 you'll be hitting yourself on the head for going with the M4. I'd recommend looking around some more for a less expensive M5 with either more options or less miles, be cause a 13 for 64 is high. I was offered 50 for mine with 32K loaded.

...Ahhhhh,...What those other guys said! Plus, with 2 kids,...you'll need every inch of the extra room for all to be comfortable on roadtrips,...across town, etc. Lastly, you'll never second guess yourself later.

Don't know if this is an option for you, but maybe go for the M4 convertible.
I had the M3 convertible (E93) before my 2 kids got too big for the back seat and going with the M5 this time. But the E93 M3 was great for dropping my daughter into her car seat because I would just open the hardtop and drop her in from the top - this is much easier than the E92. |

M5 without doubt. Make sure you pay in the very low 50's for a 13 and get an extended warranty.
