It's not about whether it's a good idea or not, it's just something we don't
do with our tuning. Even though our software is meant for off-road/non-hwy
use only, we have a strict policy against disabling or altering emissions
control functions.

If you send your ECU's to be unlocked by one of our Authorized Dealers,
then yes, you can do all of the flashing process yourself.

At this point we don't see any advantage in making our tunes available
through another brands delivery system. We have our own dealer network
around the world with our unlocking/flashing methods to offer port flashing
at the end user level.

Using our dealer network allows us to oversee the processes used, and to
guarantee the end results to the best of our ability. This is just one reason
why we feel we have such consistent and favorable reviews and feedback.

Seems like you don't want your tune to be datalogged to show 200+ channels of whats going on?

More and more Tuners globally have joined Bootmod3 even with their own stuff already going on.

You will only benefit by being part of the Biggest Custom Tuning Platform Network at this moment. Sad to see people thinking their way is the best way especially when they lack such features.

It's not a matter of thinking our way is the best way, it's about being
able to have a higher level of quality control over the entire process
from start to finish, and anything in between.

The fact that someone has tapped into the enthusiast level market
with a delivery system that allows for smaller 3rd party tuners to
distribute outside of their regional proximity is great. But then who
is the responsible party when an ECU gets bricked, or when there
is a drivability issue (or worse) with a file when the "tuner" says
"it seemed to work great in other cars"?

Who's there to make sure that an inexperienced user doesn't just
decide on their own that it's OK to request a stage level file that's
not appropriate for their hardware configuration, or runs 91 Octane
with an ethanol or race fuel file and something goes pop?

There are quite a few variables that are always outside of the tuners
control once the vehicle drives away, and we've been doing this for
long enough to see beyond the scope of selling $200 files to anyone
who requests it.

Additionally there are literally hundreds of options for data logging,
from generic OBDII plug in or wireless devices, to professional OEM
level data acquisition systems.

The fact of the matter is that there is a large demographic of customers
who prefer a fully engineered and validated software option that is turn
key and reliable without the need for those sorts of built in features. We
cater to the consumer who wants to spend their weekends driving, and
not sending data logs back and forth to trouble shoot random issues or
hunting for the perfect burble.

Different strokes for different folks, and "Post #7" (click link to jump)
is a great example of why we do things the way we do things.
Customer satisfaction is paramount, and the difference is apparent.

Yeah it was the final straw. It started with Vic's impressions, then I read their whole f80 thread, read their M2 thread, researched like crazy for a long time, procrastinated a bunch seesawing between tuners, researched some more, read your impressions, and then boom they dropped their Black Friday special.

Chicken dinner after that.

Who's ready for FULL OBDII Port Flashing?!?!

No more ECU Removal!
Completely User Installable,
Fully Upgradable,
and Switchable between Tuned and Stock Maps.

As most of you are currently reading across multiple threads all over this forum,
multiple tool makers have been running full speed ahead towards the finish line
with this new flashing protocol.

NOTE: This new OBDII protocol is not exclusive to VF Engineering/HEX Tuning
and will likely be shared with other tuners around the world. It is the responsibility
of the tuner to properly test the flashing processes and integrate the new utility
into their existing software program.

The actual performance software files, service and support channels, as well as the
reputation of our brand is what makes this an exciting opportunity for BMW F-series
owners around the world!

To share our excitement with the Bimmerpost Community we are going to give away
TWO FREE OBDII Port Flashes with Before & After Dyno Results at our Anaheim, CA
facility this coming week!

This will be our opportunity to demonstrate the new flashing process, as well as to highlight
the the facility where all of our software files are developed, tested, and validated prior
to consumer release.

You can be in the North Pole... as long as you have internet connection and an ENET cable you can flash tune your car.
