BMS Intake noise VS Stock w/panel filter

Hi guys, I've recently fitted a BMS intake to my M5 and the car already has an akra exhaust. Since fitting the intake I noticed the exhaust note became much more prominent and the car seems to have a bit more urgency about it. However, having read the issues of heatsoak on these intakes it is tempting me to go back to stock with an uprated panel filter (i dont know how much heatsoak will affect the way i drive since I dont drag or race, the car is used mainly for a weekend blast).

My question is, i know going back to the stock intake will be better for performance however, if i were to use an uprated panel filter and block off plates will I still be getting the more aggressive exhaust tone and turbo spooling sound as I do with the BMS?

The car is otherwise stock (no map or piggyback).

Short answer: no.

The oem box is, by design, a muffler for intake noise.

In your opinion what would be the best option out of the two?

Ok great, I'll take your advice, I just hope my exhaust doesn't become tame again

It probably wont be as loud, but power won't be sapped by heat soak. The oem design is quite good.

As long as you remove the charcoal filter and add K&N, then you maximize the airflow with oem design.

Maybe remove reaonators for more volume (but could cause drone).

there is an ongoing debate about heat-soak, im sure allmotor said he saw no difference and BMS saw 20 bhp increase, i use cold air feeds which solves

Im based in the uk so I don't have any charcoal filters, and I have an akrapovic exhaust which I would be too scared to chop up

Is it generally accepted that cone filters don't actually lose power but they don't make any either?
