1st day questions

Okay, so I just picked the car up a few hours ago and already have a couple questions.

It seems that every time I start the car it is defaulted to D with all of the modes set to Eco, Comfort and Comfort. Is it possible to have the car remember your last settings? Or do I need to program M1 to be the every day settings and M2 for when I really get on it?

Next, floor mats. I've got them, but they are just plain black. Do they no longer have the ///M5 logo on them?

It defaults back to D and all the eco and comfort settings when you start the car up again. I dont think there is a way to have it remember last setting. Just save how you want it in the M buttons.

As for the mats, yep no ///M mats. I've opted to put in the moulded liners which seem better protection.

as far as I know it will always be in eco mode and comfort for the suspension and steering. But I would not suggest you put it on sport in the engine power response you do that after break in service. I only have 350 miles on my LCI M5. and my mats are plain black too, its extra for M logo mats

I'm not worried about the setting prior to 1,200 miles. They have no real impact as long as I keep it under the guidelines suggested. All it does is change throttle response time. It can't do any harm as long as you are gentle on the throttle.

I've read a few threads on M logo mats and nobody seems to know of them..? I would gladly pay extra but they aren't available.. Unless you know something we don't

I recommend to always keep the throttle response in Sport Plus to learn how to deal with the extremely sensitive throttle response.
My day to day driving is suspension: comfort; steering: comfort; Throttle response: Sport plus, Gearbox: S2.

But when at least when I keep the throttle response in sport plus at all time, it doesn't take me by surprise when I drive the car spiritedly.

Just my 0.02 cents.

well yes, but with the throttle in sport plus its really hard to keep it on control atleast to keep it under 3000 rpm

what about all this 'hard run in' talk...? what process have you/are you going to follow having read all the opinions on here and from the dealer? drive hard from the outset or break in gently? I swear my M3 is quicker n loader than others due to me driving it hard from the start. never uses oil either...

Why do you need to keep it under 3k rpm. During the break-in period you just need to keep it under 100mph and under 5500 rpm. I kept all mine in sport plus mode except for steering (sport) and used s3 during my break-in period.

You will be fine in "M" Mode from the off, just warm up the Oils to temp and go.

at another period I said you could not go over 5000 rpm. I meant once over 3000rpm when on sport plus on the throttle you would easily go over 4000 to 5000 rpm. and I Doubt its okay for the car to go 100mph on the break in period. but each person is different with the cars. its up to you how you want to treat it in the beginning stages.

I had everything is the sport plus mode and S3 in my break-in period and never had a problem not going over 5500rpm, but I see what your saying how easy it is to go over as these cars get up in the rpm quickly. when I took delivery at PC they told my not to go over 100mph and the 5500rpm. I dont think it will hurt the car if you go over once or twice.

you can go over 5500 rpm but like if you do consistently during the break in period it affects the engine in the long run. but yeah once or twice wont hurt. I went to 6500 rpm accidently did not think it would rev so fast to that rpm lol. but my dealer told me not past 80mph and keep it under 5000rpm.

I think everyone has their own way of breaking in the car. And, ya know what, everyone is right. It is each their own car and they can do with it as the please. If I were going to follow something to the letter, it would be what is written in the manual though, not what the dealer says (but again, that is just my opinion, not fact).

As for me, I do my best to keep it under 5,500 RPM. However, if I accidentally go over it once or twice before 1,200 miles I'm not the least bit worried. With my E90 M3 I exceeded the break in guidelines and it was also purchased right off the lot with about 70 miles on it. I know that it had been pushed a bit on test drives. It never needed a single drop of oil outside of the scheduled maintenance.

Now, back on topic... Can someone please find a way to get the car to remember the previous drivelogic settings!
