Anyone else had the feeling as if the clutch is slipping noticeably on low-speed up shifts? I tend to drive mostly local traffic and can be a lot of stop and start, but it's become more pronounced lately. I remember the 2-paddle pull on the SMG from the E60, and wondered if anyone had any insight?

Mine started to have this issue.. I've only experienced it twice so far though, it seems to just slip and have to re-engage. If it keeps happening I plan on just taking it to service.

I've had that feeling but thought it was normal. When it shifts into second, I almost feel like it takes an additional second to grip and move forward.

That would be your clutch slipping and is in need of repair. It will continually get worse over a short period of time.
As soon as it starts slipping from flooring it, you need to bring it in ASAP for clutch replacement before you get stranded.
