F10 M5 Order Submitted !

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hello All,

I am brand new to the board... but given I have just completed an order for a Citrine Black M5 @ Parklane BMW (London)... I thought I should login, say hello and join the community.

No time yet given for the delivery... as it is with the factory to get placed in queue.

So... any recommendations on how to pass the time from now until then ?

Welcome to the site and congrats! Just saw citrine black m5 photos at the other thread and it looks excellent. Any idea how long until delivery?

As for killing time just do what all of us do and browse m5post to see other members cars and learn way too much about the car without even having one yet. We in the US have even longer wait than you will for sure so eventually I'll be experiencing ownership vicariously through you also

Welcome this is the biggest and true BMW enthusiast board on the internet. The best thing to do in the meantime is to read forum here watch YouTube videos and reviews. That should gain you enough theory knowledge before your car is delivered

Thank-you all for the welcome.

I was completely taken by the colour... and realise it will be hard to keep looking "perfect"... but, I am an accountant, with accounting tendencies (yes I am a little OCD ) so I am sure I will get a talent for wiping / polishing it down on a regular basis.

Still no confirmation on delivery date... but hopefully something by early next week, and hopefully something ending with "June".

In regards to photos... never fear, there will be plenty of snaps on delivery, and then every trip taken for the next year (or two...).

And if it is a June delivery, the weather in London should really show-off the colour. Or am I being waaaaaaaaay too positive about the upcoming summer weather ??

Confirmation came in last week !

The car is scheduled for "Build Week 21"... which just happens to commence on the 21st May.

Delivery... 3rd week of June. I tried to pin down the date... but I will have to wait for that one. So in my head I have picked Monday on the 3rd week of June (18th). But I think that is just been waaaaaaaaay too optimistic. So maybe the 25th.

Fortnightly updated from the dealer. So far the only updated was "nothing new to tell". Oh the suspense !

They won't be able to tell you anything more until its 'on the boat' and even from then it seems to take far too long. I think they sailed from Germany to the UK the long way round the world :-) I had exactly the same from park lane - its a painful wait but oh so worth it. Citrine is incredible too.

The interior colour choice is not too bold. Cohiba Brown.

Yes yes yes... brown and brown, I know... but my other half just did not want a light interior, as she is concerned about wear over time. So... it was either grey or cohiba... really.

I very much like Cohiba. So, done deal.

I am also colour blind, so my opinion on colour, although relevant, is somewhat mute.

Delivery date update ! Fortnightly call today has confirmed the date has moved forward ! Yes indeed. Forward !

It was originally 18-25th June, but was told it was booked for the 11th June, but could even arrive one week prior. So first week on June. Oh yeah

Trim was tricky. We reduced the choice to :

Dark Ash Wood or
Fineline Anthracite

The others were too light, too dark or too yellow.

Agreed on Dark Ash Wood.

Also... 20 inch wheels. A bit of a given.

And almost all the toys.

Loved the concept of night vision... but could not think of one practical use for it. So it was missed on the list.

Parklane BMW called yesterday to say my M5 is BUILT !

It now exists. I even have a chassis number.

Sadly... it is still in Dingolfing. But soon it will be on a tranporter / boat for delivery.

Estimated delivery remains the week starting the 11th June. 3 weeks from now.

Once collected and "tested" I will get some photos.

As stated before it is :

Citrine Black
Cohiba Brown
Dark Ash Wood
20'' Wheels

I will ensure I get some good interior shots, as there doesn't appear to be many Cohiba interior shots around.

Dark Ash Wood is 4BN?

You included 4MA, 403, 5DL, 761?

760 or 3MB?

Your combo is great. Congrats.

Ok... so I had to get my New Vehicle Contract to cross check codes

4BN is indeed Dark Ash Wood. Check !
4MA is M Multi-Function Seat. Check !
403 is Sunroof ? That is standard... so Check !
5DL is Surround View. Check !
761 is Sun Protection Glass. Check ! (yes... ever in London)

760 vs 3MB... 760 which is Exterior Trim, High-Gloss Shadowline. Check on the High Gloss.

It is more-or-less with all the toys. Except the Night Vision, as I cannot think of one possible use for it.

Got a new call last night... it is handed over to the delivery group. Still 2-3 weeks away. But getting closer... and closer...
