is it the comp pack or the 20" rims

Hi All,

So I'm in the market for another F10. I owned a 2013 F10 M5 for about a year and half and sold that car back in May 2017 and that car was essentially a stripper save for the B&O sound system. My M5 had the 19" rims not the 20's.

I test drove a 2014 Comp pack with the 20 inch rims and I found the ride to be a lot rougher than I recall my 2013 being. Was it because of the 20" rims or Comp pack or a combination of the 2?

Reason for my question is having comp pack was one of my requirements for my next car but if the ride is going to be that rough I may just opt for non comp pack as this will be my DD. And yes before anyone asks the suspension was in comfort mode! I should mention the car I test drove was in an accident (was more just to feel out the comp pack over actually looking to buy that specific car)

Thanks in advance!

2014 BMW M6 GC  [10.00]
The competition package has 20% stiffer springs and returned shocks and ride rougher especially with the 20" wheels.

Rough ride attributed to both wheels and suspension. Though I suspect more to the wheels. Worst case you can put OEM 19s back on a ZCP car

Thanks!

I love the way the 20's look on the F10 though I never got around to swapping my 19's. It might be worth the sacrifice.

potentially a case of both, although to be fair in my case driving in and around London (town driving with lots of speed bumps) the softest suspension mode seems to be too wobbly so I always drive in the middle suspension mode which is a bit stiff but at least passengers don't complain about feeling sick. In your case if you feel comp pack is too stiff why not go for a standard M5 with 20s as CP offers the stiffer suspension, only slightly louder exhaust and 15 hp extra power which is less than 3% increase over the standard car so barely any difference

So since my original post i took a 2013 Non CP for a test drive. Was a different world. I imagine it was more related to the CP. I think for the negligible power increase Im looking for a non CP (6MT though)
