went into service again. Loud Metal Noise! any thoughts?

was driving in usual:

throttle sport+
steering sport
suspension comfort
S3

i come around a corner, to a straight street
turn off traction control
drop to 1st gear, redline it, 2nd gear roll a little bit down the street
break, turn left, stop
put in R to park and once i start reversing i can hear CRAZY LOUD metal noise
put in D moving forward, there is some metal noise as well but with windows up you cannot hear it

car went to overnight secure bay and will be dropped to bmw in the morning

any thoughts? no warnings appeared, car was moving easily except for this noise.

last time it happened to my friend's x6m he got power loss and car wouldn't move at all, his diff cracked
i know it is common with x6/5m, but never heard of anyone have same issue with m5

Sounds like either the rear axle or the differential. The former is most likely and if so it would be the second one posted here.

DUDE!!!!
You know what happened to me once...i was driving into my driveway and i heard a crazy sound coming from my rear left wheel...you know what it ended up being? a little rock stuck between the rotor and rotor aluminum cover, or whatever it is. it sounded terrible! what i did was shake the cover and a little rock fell out, started to drive the car and it was gone.

Oh, i just read that you found the problem. I'm glad. I was so anxious to write what happened to me that I didn't even bother reading the comments.

Haha! No worries man!

He told me if i would continue to drive it, i would damage the plate! So its good i sent to bmw straight away by recovery assistance! And they are not charging me for labour, even though its not warranty issue! My SA is the MAN
