Done the ramair filter mod now have problems

Recently done the ramair intake mod which a lot of you guys have probably seen on the forum. The car was fine for a day or 2 untill I recently went out tonight for some harder driving..

Car was low on fuel and just as I was about to get to the fuel station I had restricted power flash up with drivetrain malfunction and misfires.. I turned the car off, fueled up and everything seemed fine.. so I done a few pulls and the cel flashed up and has stayed on for a few hours, car has full power and no drivetrain fault just a cel on

I'm guessing the intakes are causing this? I've recently done an exhaust mod which I opened up the rear muffler flaps and tied them open, I left all vac lines plugged in?

Thankyou

I had to clean mine because oil residue got in , my car would misfire and go in limo mode at high speeds 4th gear plus. Also I would have a rough idle.

Thanks for your help seems like people are having issues with some intakes on these cars

Did you revert back to stock or keep the BMS?

I thought those ramair filters were oil-less?

It has something to do with AirMax values, as in too much air coming in... I think.

You can pull the codes with any OBDII reader and see what it is. No need to be in the dark. Lots of chain auto parts stores will let you use one for a few minutes if you don’t have your own.

I did charcoal delete and K&N drop in after a few months had the same code, Bank 1 lean. After research of this issue I did the recommended cleaning of the MAF with MAF cleaner. Reinstalled and no CEL since!

Sounds like you just ran out of fuel....clear your codes and see if it comes back.....any sponge type filter does not filter well (from my research) and lets in lots of dirt into the engine...not good...

I recommend you switch to the BMS intake or K&N cone filters it has better filtering....you dont want small dirt particles entering your engine
