Anyone running 11.5" rear wheel

Currently I'm running HRE P40s in 20x9.5 et 25 front and 20x11 et 32 rear. 265/35/20 and 305/30/20 tires.

I'm selling my current M5 to a friend and will be picking up a 2015-2016 Comp Package M5. Since I'm going with the same car and with HRE's again (probably P101's this time) I was hoping to at least go with a little different size wheels. I really don't want to go with 21's due to many factors including horrible roads here, limited tire options, and less sidewall to hook up. However, I would like to try 20x10 up front and 20x11.5 in the rear. I know the 10" inch wide will work with no problems up front but will 11.5" fit in the rear?

I was thinking to go with 20x10 et 28 up front and 20x11.5 et 35 in the rear. Pretty much both would sit out an additional 18 mm. I would run the same 265/35/20 and 305/30/20 tire setup.

Feedback?

Can't you just check the inside of the rear wheel well? I'd think it's enough room since I have 11" wide rears on my non M5 with room for at least 11.5".

Yesterday, out of curiosity, I have fitted an F15 X5 wheel 21x11.5 ET38 and 325/30 tire on my M5 and it seems that with a 305 tire it would fit. It's a close one definitely but the wheel was about 1cm from the shock and in line with the fender.

The X5 wheels actually look flush on the M5. I need to take my OEM wheels out for powder coating. I might have to throw in my X5M winter set for it to sit while I wait 4 days for powder coating. Too bad the tires are too tall and the hub more is too big for the M5.

I have a 21x12" - had 305/30/21 fitted on it, no issues. I know 12.5" is doable with some really accurate ET measurements and tire combination.

Damn... Are you running K&W V3s? Not sure if V3 reduces tire clearance as it does for the F80.

Nope, stock shocks w/ 35K miles of H&R sport springs on them, fucking pogo stick.

Heheh.. Stock struts with higher spring rate tend to get bouncy after a while. The OEM struts are simply not designed to handle the increased spring rates.

Good news. There is a cheaper alternative to V3s. CKS coilovers have good reviews.

Meh, at that point, 900 difference isn't worth it to settle for the cheaper alternative, and still risk dealing with possible issues. Besides the KW's will always hold up a better resale value, and used is in high demand. Do it right, or don't do it at all... lol

Only reason why I ended up going w/ H&R's is cuz I never had issues with them on all my previous cars, and by the time the suspension felt bouncy, it was time to turn it in... this time around, i still got a 9 or so months left and I drive the shit out of my car. :/

What was the offset? Maybe I will just let HRE handle the offsets to ensure it works out. I think 20x11.5 et 35 would work well.

Yes an 11.5" wide rear would fit but why would you? The only tire that can fit (without body modifications) is a 305. A 305 fits perfect on an 11". The wider you go the more you will be stretching the tire.

Porsche 911 4S OEM rear setup is 11.5" with 305 tires. The GT3 uses 12" rear with 305. Porsche engineers like slightly stretch tires for better sidewalks feel. Looks damn good too.

Anyone have more info on 11.5 or 12.0 rears for the M5 ?

Thinking of running 10x20 front and up to 12x20 rear with 305's

I agree with going wider with the rim for turn in and feel

12's with 305 tire will have a stretch tire look, you'll need 325 25 21's for the rear , it will work with the right offset.

Why do you need 12's to run your 305's?

11's would suffice and they would be less heavy also.

+1 on the stretch comment also.

Worst idea ever! 305 tire is 12" wide. The same size as the rim you are going for is. Even the tread width is 0.2" narrower (11.8")
Why do you want your gorgeous M5 looks like Honda Civic?
There is a reason manufacture spec the 305 tire for 10.5"-11.5" not 12".

Porsche don't think so with their GT3, the GT4 runs 11's with 295's as well

Why would it look like a Civic with 12" rims and 305's

PS the width of the 305 PSS is 12.3 - 12.5 inches if I recall from the specs depending on which one, but a 12" rim will measure something like 12.8-12.9 rim edge to rim edge.

Have a look at the recent reviews of the 911 GTS, same size 305/30 on a 12" rim

Specs here http://cc.porsche.com/icc_euro/ccCal...fmodelstart%2f

Not very Civic like to me !

A few pics of a GT3 (not mine but a friends), you can see a little stretch but not very much
