Yup, the Model Year 2017 should be in production from about July/August 2016 to May/June 2017. Then the wait for the G30 M5. The G30 M5 will be a 2019 Model Year and should theoretically be out summer/fall of 2018. Don't know if the American market will have to wait a year like they did for the F10 M5. If that is the case, Americans won't get the G30 M5 until summer/fall of 2019, but it would be a 2020 model. Sounds crazy just thinking about it huh? Imagine yourself saying, yeah I just bought a 2020 M5. Lol! Sounds like we should have M5's that can fly by then.

PS. Be sure to invite a LOT of people who are MUCH older than 40. That helps too! |

I guess I'm a member of the M3 -> M5 club now too. I was on the list at two different dealers for an M3, but I got fed up with the wait and lack of any reliable info on when the car would be available (can't they at least post the configurator already!!?). I guess technically I'm still on the list at one of the dealers - gotta get that $500 back. Anyway, I'm picking my M5 up on Friday.

Let me ask you guys a question since most of you seem to be leasing. And by the way I have both a m3 and m5 and love both.
In leasing aren't you trapping yourself into the car for 3 years. Ap these lease payments sound great but your underwater day 1. You can't get out of the car until the residual catches up to the depreciation. And I will tell you experience on the F10 M5 that the depreciation is significant. Jeff |

Buy it, take the hit. Lease it with factory support, they take part of the hit as I see it. And while we are talking about depreciation, if you buy the car, you own it. Meaning, if some moron rear-ends you, try to trade the car in at a dealer after moderate body work. HUGE depreciation, etc. For me leasing works, always has. I just make sure I get what I really want and enjoy! |

If that's the case, then I will buy an AMG or Porsche instead. Don't see the point in waiting 2 years to buy an out of date chassis. The only reason I did it this time is because the AMG offering was shit. However it seems like the next gen of AMGs which are now coming out are going to be pretty cool. They even have HUD now.

OP, be warned. Stepping into the F10 M5 from your na V8 M3, u will find yourself having to drive at much higher speeds for the M5 to come alive. Due to the mountain of torque, the M5 can feel rather lazy in day to day use. Push it well beyond licence loosing speed, and it's a complete beast. That's why it's more dangerous
