I actually like Matt Farah. He has that down to earth, regular guy personality that most can relate to. He is in no way a Chris Harris or Carlos Lago (the gold standard in this arena IMO) but has his own style. That being said it, i wouldnt say he bashed the F10 M5 but it seemed to me like he was ill prepared and didnt spend enough time with the vehicle beforehand. He even said he took 5 people out to dinner last night, damn sure looked like it!! Farah looked like he had a rough night and didnt even shave!
Ive watched numerous reviews by him and they all seemed on point but in this vid it definitely looked like he had an off day.
BTW...LMFAO at the "pkilla" reference by @rpim5!! Almost forgot about that guy!

After Matt said that the steering feel is better in a Fiesta than in the M3 E46, I don't know what to say about this. It's like someone is paying him to say bad things about BMWs.

He is a man that "Likes mama's Pies to much", needs some fitness training by the look of it.
That may sharpen his mind............................. maybe not in his case.

I don't know how you can say Carlos Lago is in the same league as Chris Harris. Not even in the same league! I'd rather listen to Matt Farah all day long than Carlos. Sorry...

As much as I like /Drive I have to admit I don't enjoy their test drive videos all that much. While it's fun to watch Chris Harris drift something everywhere I prefer Brian Cooley for actual reviews.

Here's his M5 review from a few years ago. I feel he always gives you a pretty good sense of what it would be like to live with whatever car he's reviewing.

Edit: I suck at embedding things apparently.

I haven't seen the fiesta over e46 m3 episode, but overall I've enjoyed watching his take on various cars, even if he isn't as thorough or perhaps knowledgable as others are. I don't think he was all that critical of the m5 in this video.

If the nav failed to get me somewhere, I'd be annoyed as well. While this has never happened to me, I've certainly heard of this happening to others - especially after BMW switched from Navteq to Teleatlas around 2010(?) - have they switched back yet?

Beyond that, I'm curious to know about this bouncing which is also evident in the video -- I wonder if he knew about/adjusted the suspension setting from the default 'comfort'.

Anyway - his rundown at the end was certainly positive, if delivered somewhat begrudgingly.

Bottom line - I don't think personal attacks on Farah are warranted; he gave his impressions of the car as he is hired to do; you may not like his approach, but clearly others do. Personally, I enjoy his dude-bro style.

EDIT: The last response answered my question. Thank You!
I just saw a you tube video illustrating some maintainance aspects of the new Porcshe 991 911 and it has a "sound tube" going from the intake system into the cabin. (You have to remove the rear wing and bumper to replace the intake air filters - yikes) This sound tube pretty much achieves the same thing as the M, Porcshe just take a mechanical approach to bring more sound into the cabin. Yeah it's cheating, but in the case of my M, has not bugged me at all.

I didn't finish this video.
That guy is a muppet. Not that I am a funboy of BMWs- I even stop liking these cars but that guy is an idiot.

Having problems with Nav? U must be a dumb or retarded. I think that BMW has one of the most user friendly media system if not the best.

He is talking about suspension parameters? He can barely drive. Look at his attampt to drift this thing! What is he doing with the wheel? Trying to avoid a rabbit on the track?

They should kick that muppet out of Drive. Doing a lot of harm to them.

It's hard to cope with the downsizing of the S8/65 to a less mechanically involved variant like a turbo

I think what this guy is saying is the M5 is a bad ass car despite some of the nuances w the idrive and automatic stop start

What this means is that BMW needs to concentrate on the sound and reducing weight on the G-code chassis

I'm sorry I can't hear the exhaust very much on the AMGs unless its the black series but everyone else on the road sure can

I feel that you get what you pay for with the M5... At the expense of reduced weight, I hope the new F8x is blazingly fast because in some ways it looks like a fancy F30 which is par for the course but if it drives like hell then by all means it will be worth it

If you need the utility go BMW, if not go Porsche unless you can go higher

BMW needs to re-gauge its metrics on the blend of sport, luxury and economy - I feel this current run is more luxury focused and instead of leading the pack, BMW followed its near peers instead of trailblazing its own path which Lexis is trying to capitalize on by refocusing more on the sport aspect

Kind of funny how there are numerous posts/threads on these forums about issues with suspension and steering issues/comments, as well as on DCT etc. Complaints about active sound, lack of noise from the exhaust and so on. The iDrive is not the first time being talked about.

But when someone else mentions these, basically minor, issues with some parts of the car, then he is a fat idiot... After all, he was like 80-90% positive...

Some of the comments here are really pathetic IMHO and Matt Farah comes out like a Knight in shining armour in comparison...

I hope not all fellow BMW owners are like this...

Why, exactly, is he "an idiot"? Because he doesn't drift? He's very articulate and professional. See my previous post.

Soon no one will ever have anything negative to say about the precious M and we will all conform to the status quo or else!! It's his opinion, which btw was overall very good. The attacks on him are pretty shameful IMO.

My issue with Matt Farrah is his lack of preparation making his reviews no more than cursory locker room talk.
I have an old, fat friend that can do the same thing.
