What depth to replace tires?

At 13309 miles. Rears are at 4/32 and fronts at 6/32. Obviously a new tire is 10/32.

Should I replace them now or wait a bit more?

6/32 is fine... 4/32 on the rears I usually replace as the tires have no traction anymore taking off and when raining

Traction in the wet

I would agree that 4/32 is about the right depth to order new tyres....you could push it another 1/32 but you'll notice diminished grip and you do run more risk of aquaplaning so why would you?
High performance car tyres do need a little extra care and attention and this is one place it usually goes....that and premium brand tyres

Do you think I should replace the fronts too?

If you drive like a gentleman you can go down to 3/32 (if you live in US) or 2/32 which is ~1.6 mm (if you live in UK) there are different standard in US and UK
If you drive like you have stolen your car (I don't think you drive like this) then 4/32 is the time you need to replace the tire.
As far as the tread depth of new tire, 295/30/20 (BMW) is 9/32" but 295/30/20 (MB) is 10/32"

Interesting. So do you think I should buy the MB version?

it has also different thread width! you can see the difference here:

i wonder if the different width is because of the different depth. In other words would the width be the same once the Mercedes version wears to 9/32?

Also the tire warranty is 30k miles, so if I replace my tires at 4/32 with 13300 miles, can I get a prorated refund on the factory tires?

No the different width is not because of different depth. it's different design based on the data from manufacturer of the car and the specification of suspension.. I know this kind of discussion is useless here when people change everything on their own (i.e the rims, the size of tire/rims/ suspensions and other things) but from engineering stand point, the tire must be designed based on suspension and all engineering factors.
As far as the tire warranty, that warranty is about defective part (tire). 13000 mile on a tire which is already worn is considered tear and wear and not warranty.

Got it. So your sense is I should stick with the BMW spec tire then?

Yes but unfortunately that tire is in back order. Mercedes one is available though...

It is sad as the BMW has .6 more tread width than the MB one too! I see that as MUCH more important than depth.

Why it's bad? The main reason of wider thread is the amount of torque is transferred to the rear wheel (which is dependent to gear and axle ratio) while you enter or exit corners. Not sure which MB is using this size of tire but for sure MB neither has that aggressive gear ratio of BMW nor has the same suspension.
Probably the MB car is using this tire is AWD too. Trust me I test drove both C63s and AMG GTS. None of them are tail happy like my M6... BMW M is a fun car to drive because of many things including the suspension.

Staggered setup only get's warranty for 15K miles on MPSS tires.

I just replaced mine with 3/32 left on the rears at 19k miles (stock MPSS). No surprise, but huge difference in traction. Fronts almost had some cord showing on the inner aspect of the tire, so I'd recommend checking wear patterns to see if alignment is necessary as well.

Fronts id replace them 4/32 is low
Rear will need to be change as well

Coming from a tire guy.

If u have power set already 6/32 will light up tires

Always good to replace at 5/32 on the set. Then if u have lease car, keep those. And put them back on when time for return.
