Is it normal?
All,
I started engine to pick up my kids and my 2013 M5 gave me "lane departure assist inactive", "sensors inactive" on driver's information screen. So I pushed the engine button off and restarted again and all system checked "OK". Why is it do this? is this one of computer system hiccups? or should I take it to the dealer? Thanks |

I have a new '14 and had that exact same thing happen when I pulled into a parking lot. When I got back in the car later all way fine.
I'd take it to the dealer if it keeps happening, but not after the first time (especially if it works fine after resetting).

It just happened to me again this morning. My car goes in for the 1200 mile service on Monday so I will bring it up with them then.
I'll let you know what they say.

It's the cameras... They are fogged, wet, iced, or a bug splat up by the mirror, etc I would guess. If this happened in clear weather, then it's something more major.

I live in Scottsdale, AZ. Sunny and in the 70s today. I guess it could have been a bug, but I doubt it.

dang.. sorry to hear. I have had this like three times... in fog in the black forest, in heavy rain in switzerland, and in an early morning snap freeze the one night my car was ungaraged when I got it back to the states.

Very heavy rain or similar adverse weather conditions could be the cause. I have not experienced this with my M5, but I have a few times with my AMG's.
