If that's the case, Eurocharged's claimed 55 - 75 WHP increase is a crock of..

Exactly!! If they really removed the Top Speed Limiter where's the proof? Wouldn't they advertise that? At least a video or something. SMH.

No it's not. I put down 615WTQ and 580+WHP and they ran my car in 4th for 2 out of 3 pulls and 5th is the proper gear. This was before downpipes install.

I still have the limiter. Eurocharged can remove the limiter but it's not in the ECU coding.... its in the car coding like when you code stuff to play dvd's and such. I just found this out now.

His claim is that they have an actual tune, not piggyback that will in fact remove the top speed limiter and add approximately 55 or 75 WHP. These stage 1 and stage 2 tunes are available right now and they included a loaded laptop as part of their package. They load it remorely.

After spending 20 minutes on the phone listening to the details of how they download and upload the code, I ask him if he we're a somewhat conservitive guy like me, and you had some concerns about warranty, what would you recommend the best course of action would be. He blew me away with his answer.

HE SAID, IF IT WAS HIM, AND HE HAD OVER $100K INVESTED IN A NEW M5, HE'D OPT FOR A PIGGY BACK TUNE FROM SOMEONE LIKE SNITZER RATHER THEN THE TUNE THEY OFFERED. HE SAID HE THOUGHT IT WAS SAFER, AND ONCE REMOVED, BMW COULD NEVER PROVE YOU HAD IT ON THE CAR. HE EXPLAINED THAT IN HIS OPINION, HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY.

I'm still confused, but thought I'd share what they said.

I read this post and contacted Eurocharged to see what they had to say ... here is what I got:

"Here is something you can post about it.
the comment was taken out of context. Here is what we recommend:
Flash tune vs piggyback. They both pretty much do the same thing. If you are close to a eurocharged location or can wait for the laptop to get flashed back to stock then the flash is the way to go. If you don't want to have to wait or need to go asap to the dealer than we recommend the piggyback for warranty claims. We do modify other things besides boost in the tune (you noticed the fans earlier etc for example)
We (tuners and the dealership) don't currently know the recording capabilities of the ecu. When we flash you back to stock, we overwrite the ecu with your stock file.
VMax: Yes we can remove vmax on the car. This is not done in the ecu tuning (there is a section but it doesn't actually change the value) We change that in the coding
Dynos have already been posted and the tune does make the power its advertising. (you can surely feel the difference before and after) The vmax thing we do with the same laptop we send out."

Hi guys, i m pretty new here and i m from far away - Hong kong.

After reading few many posts i still not sure what I should do abt. an ECU tune, i only wanna remove the limiter more than any risky power boost (nice to hav them if proven safe). What should i do??

I hav written to Eurocharged and they reply in black n white that their tune can remove limiter, 70hp increase n cel removed, i mean, what i dont understand is why would he say that if he cant do it, becoz it will for sure
ruin his company reputation quickly if it is not true.
Why would he do that is what i dont understand...pls help me guys. I just wanna remove that damn speed limiter.

Well, so far nobody seems to be able to remove it. Hunter said Eurocharged said it it a coded issue so What I'm going to do is reach out to the guy who coded my car and many Houston Cars. Shawn Sheridon. He is very good at this. Lets see what he has to say on the subject.

For as much coding that's been done, it would surprise me that no one else has figured this out. Would be great if it's true though :

Well there is a disconnect.

If what you say is true then this tune is nothing but hype.

My butt dyno says there is no difference. Not only that, but the journalists who reviewed the CP 2 weeks ago also said the power increase wasn't noticeable in their reviews.

Contrast that with recent reviews of the Switzer tune which remark on a significant power increase.

Coldlist -

Can you ask your German contact what they estimate the real power increase to be with the Competition Package over the standard M5 LCI?

I thought you said you didn't drive it over 4k rpm . How would you have noticed the increased power since it doesn't occur until over 5800rpm where it is needed ?

I would suspect he has installed "Butt Dyno 3.5" which has the added extrapolation program installed

I'm officially putting out the NOTICE.

To anyone in Southern California that has a Eurocharged tune on your M5...

Let's race.

I feel the need to put this issue to rest. Remember, I have no tune on my M5, so you should pull on me, despite my downpipes. If the tune is making legit power I will know. Just like Niko414's Switzer Piggyback is legit. If you in your Eurocharged tuned car go past 160mph then we'll also know that it does remove the top speed limiter.

I personally don't believe that the Eurocharged Tune is legit. I believe that it's just the press tune and this talk of the top speed limiter removal is all hearsay.

Name the time and place and I'll be there.

I hope there is someone out there with the Eurocharged tune. Would Def RIP things.. remember Eurocharged said they don't remove the limiter with their tune but with car coding so if you find a Eurocharged tune they most likely won't have the limiter removed unless they did that also separately.

Only way to prove it. Step up or shut up. I can also bring my stock M6 or Switzer M5 for even more comparisons.

I give kudos to Dave for always contributing and willing to test for the good of the group
