AVOID Marietta Auto Sales

I put a deposit on this car and went to pick it up today. It was listed as a 2016 BMW M5 and Silverstone color. It was actually the Pure Metal Edition. I knew this but dealer I don't think did. The car had a clean carfax And I also paid for Autocheck. Both were clean. I drove 3 hours to get car. In 30 seconds I could tell that every single body panel had been painted. You could see tape lines and feel the overspray. Do not waste your time.

I fortunately got my deposit back but wasted 6 hours of gas and now have to get a refund on insurance. Disappointing day for sure. They have pulled the car off their website for now.

Seems to be up, maybe they took it off as thought was sold?

That would've been a great deal for that car if it's still pure metal. I'm guessing they got into a minor fender bender and paint shop couldn't match the original paint so they ended up spraying the whole car.

Yeah it is back up for sale. Paint job was a chop shop job though. Assuming it happened at selling dealer. This place was way off the road down in a hole. Horrible paint job. Felt like rubbing hand across sand paper. I'm really bummed about it.

Was the paint visually bad? What I have found out in past few years that even BMW dealers repaint front bumper and they don't cover the rest of the car very well. I got first hand experience where BMW dealer I bought my pre-own X5 did that. Had my detail shop detailed and ceramic coated it. Paint came as new if not even better.

Its surely a pure metal edition, just a hacked up version. It has CCBs, m perf exhaust, white stitching throughout the car, no B&O sound. According to vin here are some options most don't have ..

SILED Individual Option, Cushion
S940 Special Equipment BMW Individual
S944 Subsequent Conversion By Individual
S938 Individual Series
Colour special paint
Upholstery special trim (without colour statement)

But I would highly recommend to stay away if the whole car was repainted, after all the original paint is the most exciting part about that model.

Tape mark on hood. Color didn't match around lower air vent grille. Paint was super rough to the touch from poor clear coat application. Sounded like sand paper when you rubbed on any body panel.

It was definitely pure metal edition. I knew what to look for.
It did also have carbon brakes. Rears said 2k left on them. Don't know why they repainted so much of the car. If it was just the bumper and the paint job was good I would have probably still bought it. When every panel felt rough, it scared me. Couldn't believe dealer said they don't inspect body and paint. 100% a lie. It was most likely painted at this dealer.

Nothing wrong with a re-paint so long as it's done nicely, it may have been vandalised or sun damaged lol
If mechanically good and service records up to date with nice interior I'd make an offer to take in a good re paint and of course my own percentage for taking it on.
Quite a few have been wholy or partly repainted.

There's a guy in Norway who had his rare colored M5 (one of three) shot blast damaged by an over exuberant bus stop shelter cleaner while it was parked up and he had it 70% repainted but it was a perfect job.

Wouldn't be worth it to me to re-paint entire car. The Pure Metal Paint is a very special 3 step process at the factory. The paint they used was already flaking off in spots as well. Could have wrapped it, my son does that but if I am going to do that I could just buy a regular competition package and wrap it silver. There has to be some kind of crazy story to respray every panel and definitely lowers value. Should also show up on carafe that its had paint / body work.

I will look for another one.

That's the trouble with a limited number of factory runs like the Pure Metal with trick silver paint, if it needs repaint or just a panel paint then who will do it.
You have this carfax in US that any repaint or crash repair has to by law be recorded I think.

Carfax and Autocheck were clean. Yes in US paintwork should be recorded but small places often do work without recording.

Has anyone ever took the time to look at the their salespeople ? The men look like creeps or retired drug dealers and the women who work there look like retired strippers. Red flags and dead giveaways for me. I'm out.

That's because I really think this dealer painted it.
