Exclamation rattle / clicking noise on left turns coming from the front left side

I hear a noisy rattle coming from the left front side of the car...
that usually happens when i make a hard left turn (from a full stop), something is clicking and sounds loud...

Anybody had this? Any idea?

I hear it as well. I have the opposite issue as you. I hear it on the right front when making a right turn from a full stop. It just started doing it last week. Only 620 miles on the car. No idea what it is

Right now 900 miles on the car but had this from the beginning...
I dont think it is normal since the noise is loud enough to scare people in the car..

There sure have been a lot of posts about rattles and stray noises in the F10 M5. Is BMW's build quality falling through the floor?

Unrelated to noises, but I just used my driver's side rear shade for the first time, and it promptly broke. Sigh...back to the service dept.

I had this and took it in, they told me they contacted BMW and this was normal. It was coming from the brakes... I have no faith in BMW mechanics

you cant be serious.!!! You are not talking about the squeaking sound while braking, right?
How come this noise can be normal

Is it getting any worse or better by the time?

This is not a squeaking sound... It is more like 2 things are touching and makes a rattle/clicking sound..

Squeaking sound is bc of the brakes.

I'm not sure this is relevant to what is happening with the M5 brakes, but I'll give my experience. I changed out the front brakes on my last car to large diameter AP rotors and six piston calipers. Occasionally, not all the time, I would get that rattle from the front, either left or right, when turning 90 degree corners at low speed. This happened over years of use with no complications from the brakes at all. I believe it has to do with how much the caliper pistons have retracted after the last brake application. If the seals have pulled the pistons back slightly more than usual, I think it gives the pads some room to rattle against the rotor, and perhaps turning has something to do with the pad movement?

Guys,

nothing to worry about, this is from the brakes;
Apparently it will be the first time you drive a car with "floating" discs.

I admit, I do not like the sound either, however it doesn't affect the cars performance nor is a quality issue.

Sometimes the tires pick up lil rocks and it could get stuck in the suspension system causing the noise to happen when you turn one direction. It might be a cause.

Hi,

There is no more answer since long time in this thread, but I will give my personnal expercience regarding this "click" sound, it could be useful for someone in the future.

I heard the same "click" sound from the front of the car (for me it was from left AND from right) either while moving or either from a full stop.

It was definitively not brakes.

I brought back my car at the dealer for analysis and they finally found there is a known issue referenced in the BMW internal knowledge forum.

in my case it was related to "Carrier / wheel bearing, front"(http://www.etk.cc/bmw/EN/search/sele...25/31202284375).

For information this noisy click started at about 16'000km (9'900 miles) and the root cause was finaly found at about 19'000km (11'800 miles).

In my case it's fully covered by the car warranty but the dealer need at least 2 days to proceed with the repair (seems to be a big repair).

Hope this can contribute to help to diagnose your issues.

Best Regards
Vincent

I guess vinzcenzo was right! i took mine in for the clicking noise and they told me it's the grease they use in wheel bearing is too thin, and they are repairing it with thicker grease. Hopefully it works!
