Anyone with BMS intakes throwing CEL
I put in my BMS intakes. The install is easy a shop did it nonetheless and within 40 miles I had a CEL for mass air flow sensor 2 and some air mass 2.
109201 Air mass 2 plasbuility 102A11 Mass air flow sensor 2 I didn't want to drive back so I reset codes and this morning the CEL came again for only 109201 Air mass 2 plasbuility. I reset codes again and rechecked install and reinstalled the MAF on both sides everything looks good locked in and secure. I was told it could just be my car since I have zero mods besides this. These sound so good and look mean in the engine bay. However I do not want to drive around with a CEL. I am hoping it adapts or something if not i will unfortunately return them. Anyone else running these didn't find any videos or anything |

I would check to make sure the shop seated the connections to the MAFs properly and check to make sure they tightened the hose clamps. The “plausibility” makes me think you have a slight air leak. The leak would be between the MAF and the engine. I think it’s saying it believes more air is entering the engine than the MAF is measuring.

Taking out MAF and cleaning MAF the car is idling rough and jumpy. After a short drive it died twice.
I checked everything and all looks snug and well. Connections good MAF good. I cleaned it again. Car is running rough smells like fuel got codes ecu 2 bank over Cross and lambda adaption. I used crc cleaner prior to this car aas running fine. Did the sensor die from the cleaning? Can any damage be done by driving car in this condition while I wait for new maf,? |

Yeah I suggest NEVER to use any cleaner i think the sensors have died. I just let them dry overnight and reset the battery and put them in and car idle okay at first and then real bad and smell like straight up gas.
Upon cleaning them I have had all sorts of codes, lambda, fuel mixture, all sorts of mixture codes. I also used the cleaner where the sensor slides in and on the plug. New MAF are on the way. I hope this fixes it. What a PITA. I should have left them alone at least before the car was driving and sounding great smh. |

I guess cleaning the sensors this happening was just a coincidence. I decided to clean them again and will report back. If the same issue I will just remove them and return them.
Now I am wondering if the RK or Msr non tuned cars have same issue ? |

Been cleaning BMW MAF's with CRC on a regular basis for years with good results....this has prevented me to have to buy new ones

After talking to terry at BMS and reading online it seems it's a 50/50 chance if you have no issues don't touch the sensors with the cleaner.
I just unplugged both the car is running great. My new sensors were supposed to be here today but they haven't even shipped out. Terry said it's fine running without the sensors even long term. I personally don't like that idea though. |

My new sensors came this morning. After installing them the car was still running poor but after a quick drive and some pulls the car is idling smooth.
Mpg is going up and car feels great again. I'm glad I was able to fix this issue. I still highly suggest no one to use cleaner on the stock sensor. Just replace if you think you have too. While doing my search I noticed several members had these weird MAF sensor codes and the dealer would be replacing injectors and coils and the issue would still exist. I suggest replacing the two maf quick and easy fix . Thanks for all help guys |
