Ok, now I'm thinking about it and I come up with 512 on the DCT (without the ass massager).

The M5, on the other hand, builds speed so quickly (with more momentum due to mass) that you can easily exceed your skill level or the capabilities of your tires in WOT.

I think every dealership should offer the same advice they gave me the day I bought mine "enjoy the power, but respect the power". I've never forgotten the look he gave me at the time either. It was a very sincere warning.

The best part though? This is like having many cars in one because of 160 different performance variations (320 if you consider ass massager on or off!

That's a hell of a trade you made. Enjoy!
I understand what you are talking about!!
I though you have to ask for trouble in this car to be in trouble but so not true!!
Today was rainy in here and I tried to push it as I used to in dry times and without MDM or anything crazy, just 1/2 or 3/4 floored it and the rear went way to the right side for no obvious reason and only thing that saved me was the DSC!! As once stopped the wrong spinning wheel the car was able to pull through while I was still thinking what's going on!!

The key for me is I had to go from being intimidated by the M5 to appreciating (and respecting) its capabilities.

Congratulations and hurry up Thursday!!!!
All of the above, it's a "Beast" be careful.
I have done 5,600 miles and not learned a lot yet.

I completely agree on respecting the car. I also came out of an E90 M3 and this is a completely different feel. It builds speed so seamlessly and is so quiet inside that you can be easily fooled as to your true speed. I have found myself coming into corners at 140+ a few times without realizing it...

But I could not believe it as today I was followed by a 1M the first I have ever seen apart from mine... Was it a sign ? May be good May be bad haha.. Any way so far I love it .. No pics as it is dirty off the rain all day so I will get some up soon... It is Monte Carlo blue with silver stone extended leather.....

I too went from a 1M to an M5. As mentioned previously they are completely different beasts. As a daily driver the M5 wins hands down, it is so refined and comfortable and much much faster than a 1M. I'm at 8000 miles now and it still surprises me when I put my foot down. Surprisingly the fuel consumption is hardly any worse than the 1M either.
However, I live minutes away from some of the best driving roads in the country and when I go for my Sunday blast the M5 feels like a bus compared to the 1M. So I would say 90% of the time the M5 is better than the 1M, but on those days when you are on your own with a great road ahead I really miss the 1M. It doesn't help that a guy in the same village has a white 1M and every time I see it my heart sinks and wish I hadn't sold mine :-(
Overall I'd say I'm 50/50 on whether to keep my M5 or go back to a 1M/wait for an M2. Just my opinion.

Go out on track and do insane speeds, then come back and relax like a gentleman

The Power is just endless. I mean, it's simply remarkable.

And the DCT, another marvel.

Love the car!

I have to admit to buying my beast without test driving, it was such a good offer, I'd had numerous 5 series and knew it would be awesome so I dove straight in. It was delivered to my office at lunchtime, the first time I drove it was 145 miles home from work that evening. The first 15 minutes was interesting to say the least, I was in fear for a while.

Also the tech was fun, I was looking to the instrument cluster for the recent phone list like previous 5 series, didn't realise it was on HUD, I called a random former boss several times by mashing the phone button in frustration before I realised.

Anyway, to cut a long story short you're going to frigging love it.
