Turbo S is a better car than the R8
PDK is an awesome transmission as compared to the DSG with old R8 . The new R8 " 2017 " has a great transmission but you are talking 180 Plus cost wise Turbo S brakes are better Turbo S handling is much better R8 has more exotic look R8 will attract more attention than Turbo S also a side note according to my dealer M5 is coming this fall , they are not waiting like F10 |

Agreed, R8 is far better looking and exotic car IMHO. Porsche is a performer, not as much of a looker (though I like the look of the newer 911's). But if performance is all we're worried about a lot of people on this forum would pick a GTR over M6, possibly M5. Then again I'm biased I own a manual R8 V10 :P I can tell you it's an amazing car, manuals go for a little more coin since they don't make them anymore and they're all a blast to drive with just a decent exhaust. A sound you will never even get close to with the Porsche. What I love about the platform also is once you get bored you can throw some twin turbos on there which is what I did, then you have a 900hp car that's a looker But hey to each his own you can't go wrong with either choice anyway, good luck!

Just to throw in another option, what about the Ferrari California? It is a perfect blend of the R8 and 911 Turbo S.

Funny you mentioned that, it was on my list. But I think it lacks in the performance that I am looking for. Last edited by Mr_M5Guy; 03-01-2017 at 07:58 PM.. |

My crew member has a 2015 tts. I rode w him on one of my country runs. I'm so impressed I would gladly trade up to that one. Those carbon brakes stop at the last second then peddle down in the curve flat out and the car just pulls and pulls. I couldn't never match his car in the curves or braking. I know my car is bigger and heavier. Mines also faster on roll racing. but not from s dig. Porsche has my vote

You should go test drive one. The new ones put out over 560bhp.

You can also find some pretty nice member cars for sale on R8talk but they tend to ask a little more like 110+ From what I've seen. I found my car almost two years ago (2011 V10 6-speed) at a ford dealership in Huntington Beach for a little over 100k, awesome experience so far. |

Ive had both
If you care about going fast the turbo S will be the one it is faster in every aspect, unless you turbo the R8, which is a 20K+ endeavor at minimum The R8 feels more special, and sounds a lot better, the NA power is very nice, and driving the car feels more like an occasion If you intend to daily drive the car I would say Porsche hands down The R8 attracts too much attention IMO to be a daily driver Both are wonderful cars, and both are made to be daily drivable, however, the porsche is a bit more comfortable to sit in and drive, has cooled seats, and the burmester in the porsche is miles better than the B&O in the R8 That being said, I went from DCT R8 V10, to 991 turbo S, to R8 GT, because I missed the feeling of occasion and the sound. Going fast does not matter to me much, my friend's M6 with DME tune and downpipes was just as fast as my 991 TTS with custom tune, full exhaust and IPD plenum/Y pipe and BMC filters You will love both, but it just depends on the usage and what you value in a car

if you want to fly under the radar, the 911; if you want to be seen and make some noise, the R8. Both are extremely fast and wonderful machines. both have interiors that share a lot with their little siblings. The R8 seems to be less precise on track, but for most people they won't push them hard enough to notice this or track them.
when I eventually come to this dilemma i'll for sure be test driving both to see which speaks to me more because it's definitely a win-win situation and will come down 1000% to your preference. it may come down to cup-holder ergonomics and frunk space layout in the end photos when you figure it out!
