Moving to the dark side

Well after 3 BMW's (E90 335, E60 M5 and F10 M5) I've decided to move to the dark side.

The F90 M5 is quite a ways out and all this automatic talk has me pretty bummed out. Re-using the same engine is disappointing too. I'm really hoping BMW does something special with it but will wait and see.

In the meantime I signed a deal for a 2012 Porsche Panamera Turbo S. Basalt black metallic on black full leather. 20" turbo wheels. 30,000 miles / 45,000km.

CPO for 2 years unlimited km / miles and in Canada CPO is renewable up to 10 years from in service date.

Car is being shipped cross-country so now the wait begins

I went from panny turbo to m5. The panny is much more refined and a lot faster.

My buddy had a turbo s. Night and day between the turbo and turbo s. Good call. You'll love it!

Great choice! I also went from the Panamera to the M5. The panny feels like a precision scalpel compared to the M5! You will love it!

I could never get over the Pan's looks, why I went with the M5.

The new Sport Turismo, on the other hand,....wow...

Look wise it's certainly not everyone's cup of tea. I personally like the look, its nicer in person that in pictures. Lighter colors look better but I love black too much. As I read somewhere black is not a color but a hobby

The new model is georgeous but can't swing the $230,000 CDN price tag.

I did consider it, but I'm not a fan of Alcantara. My configuration is pretty much a GTS minus the 30hp power kit. The 991.2 C2S has already been tested to do 0-60 in 3.1s and 30hp only adds to top speed.

Congrats! When is it due?

I love the 911, maybe someday as a 2nd car.

Should be in Aug / Sept. Waiting on the build date as it is an '18 and I think 4/7 was the last that you could order a 17, and those were GTS' only. All other '17 build allocations were already filled.

Exactly what I expected for a rolling race. Both have similar HP and weight. The Porsche's AWD loss is probably to blame.

Having owned both an E60 M5 and F10 M5 not many cars compare 50-250km/h.

0-60 would definitely go to the Porsche. 3.6s is claimed but I've seen 3.2s from magazines.

Honestly anything above 500hp is fine with me. I don't track my cars and the fear of doing jail time keeps me in check.

Jail for speeding? A bit draconian wouldn't you say.

Not these days. Don't several states throw you in jail for anything above 30mph
?

For 50km/h (30mph) over Ontario will fine you $2000-$10,000 on the spot, suspend your license and get a court date. They crush your car if you're caught racing.

In Quebec, dangerous driving (Excessive speeding is included) is a criminal offense. That can carry a $5000 fine or 6 month in jail.

Not that I'm aware of. Been pulled over at 120+ a couple ties. They can ony take your car if you are using it to transport dealer amounts+ of drugs.

Speeding is a misdemeanor. Only driving intoxicated is a felony. It carries the harshest penalty. 6 months no license and $1000 fine. Speeding at high speeds expect a few hundred.

Got pulled over back in days doing 120 on 65, actually speed was 140 :, $400 ticket and 4 points no jail or anything like that.

I had my lesson and never got ticket after that.

Its only an infraction in CA--- it has to get to a "reckless" level to gain the misdemeanor nameplate. State by state does vary.
