Not that this should impact your decision, but I think for resale the Comp package will be more desirable than full leather.
Also, I do not think you can get the 601s on a non CP car. At least, not from the factory. My vote is for the CP. That's what I have and I wouldn't have gotten the car without it.

I reckon you guys should all donate $100 in order to help make my dream come true!
In the UK they charge GBP 6,700 for comp pack and GBP 5,445 for the leather. So both options equates to approx $18,000..... Last edited by F16RCE; 11-29-2014 at 11:58 AM.. |

18K Double ouch.
If you have to choose I'm still sticking with the comp pkg. Don't get me wrong one of the things I love about the M5 is the combination of power, luxury, technology and sophistication; for me its the perfect daily driver and also has the flexibility of hauling the family, usable trunk etc. That being said the real pedigree of the M division is performance. If there was an internet in 1985 I wonder what the guys on the E28 M5 board would be saying. |

To me the CP was must have. Even though I'm already planning to upgrade the shocks, sways and a tune I still feel the CP was a good choice. I also happen to like the 601's. The steering "re-calibration" and remapped MDM by themselves are worth it. I have full Sakhir leather and unfortunately (for your decision process), it looks amazing with the contrast of the black. With that being said I would rather spend the $ on a package the makes the car drive better than look better. PS. I'd like to go on record that if $100 is standing in the way of your dream I've got you covered.

I'd personally go with the competition package. Extended leather looks nice but with the competition package, you'll get looks, sound, and performance improvements.

+1 comp pack if it's a choice of the two
Think it will help marginally with residual and everyone says it's the way it should of come as standard

I had a 2013 (obviously no comp pack) and it did not have full leather. Just picked up a 2015 Comp pack and went with full leather. I put about 10K miles on the 2013 and so far only 1200 on 2015. Hands down, the difference in handling was night and day for me with comp pack. It did away with most the handling gripes I had with my '13, suspension felt more able to handle the cars weight in the turns. Steering feel was much better and the whole car just felt more composed. I drove the car for hours at a time on my ED trip and the suspension never felt too hard or harsh for me or my wife. One particular stretch of the trip between Venice and Florence is through semi mountainous or hilly areas with very narrow roads, lots of twists and turns. Not a lot of space to get by the abundant semis on the road. The '15 just felt a lot more confidence inspiring in those situations and made the drive a blast. I got full sakhir, which I think looks best in that particular color but if you have black interior then the standard leather could be ok. But if you can get both, do it.

To maybe help answer your question to Bmellion with my opinion/advise at this point would be take it DINAN for the mods you will need to help improve some of the drawbacks of the non comp models |

Go comp package, and then add leather after with a upholsterer - itll probably turn out better and more lux then oem.

I did consider this option but my concern is that if I go after market they will never get the dashboard to fit as well as factory and I will risk having various rattles and squeaks etc

I was in a similar quandary and couldn't decide which to go for. In the end I decided the CP would give more bang for the buck. Trouble is, I'd left it too long and my spec was locked in :
So in the end I've got neither. I was a bit gutted but it's still going to be an amazing car and chances are I'd not really get a chance to exploit the full CP potential. That's what I keep telling myself anyway

i think you guys have convinced me to get the Comp pack over the leather.... End of day £5,455 GBP is a lot of money for some extra cowhide which the kids will just kick everytime they get in the car!
Also means now i save the £2,500 i was paying for 20" alloys as they are now part of the CP.. So actually i think i just saved £1,100ish...... |
